Replacing leads.. need instructions
« on: 21 January 2008, 14:29:59 »

Hello all . I'm looking on here to see if changing 'the leads ?!?' is a suitable job for a green horn like me to be attempting. Engine running rough all of a sudden (not firing on all cylinders??? .. bit like me I suppose!) Apparently oil is leaking over them and so maybe they've gone wrong.. Help ... anyone ..
Cheers

....from your post, oil is leaking all over them sounds like it may be cam covers...

If you search on the site theres a fair few posts about lead changing and cam covers.

A fiddly time consuming job but not overly complicated.

Yep. New leads will fail quickly if they are allowed to get contaminated with oil.. so:

Change cam cover gaskets and clean breathers
Change leads
Change coil pack if you still ahve a problem

1,3,5 ( drivers side ) easy enough, 2,4,6 a bit more awkward because of the cable tray.

Just make sure you put the new ones on correctly.

This might help
