ignition key doesn´t turn

Hi, this noon left the car for about 2 hours and when I got back the key didn´t rotate from 0 position, any Ideas?? :-/

The steering lock may have engaged and be putting pressure on the ignition lock.  Move the steering wheel gently both ways to feel which way it is springing, hold it back against this to free up the ignition lock and try again.

Failing this, just patient wiggling of the key until it cooperates.  Then follow the instructions in the maintenance guide to prevent it siezing up completely, which they commonly do.

Solved for now, gave the ignition barrel a gentle tap with a window scraper not too hard but not to light, about three taps then re try the key. Got some silicone spray in there afterwards, just worked fine
Should I change the ignition barrel?

On our first Mig swmbo drove around for months with a small set of mole-grips to turn the key if it would not turn...... ::) ::) This followed a visit from the AA when we could not turn the key, the AA man managed with a little help.... :D :D

No need to change the barrel, there is a guide in the maintenance section which covers refurbishing your barrel ;) :y

I have a similar problem and reconditioned the barrel but found the problem to a a small block of metal the shape of a house that had been worn down. It is positioned near the end where you put the key in and sits on a tiny spring. I can still turn the key within 2-3 seconds and find that if you put the key in then pullback the slightest of amounts and then turn it, it works. This may or may not help you but i thought i would share it. I have got a new barrel which i will fit this weekend but check the metal house shaped thing for wear and if you can get a similar shape then it would fix it.
