Title: HALFORDS!!!!
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 07 April 2021, 09:00:24
Cant get my breath.

Went online to check for stock availabilty of for 3 items (£200+)  A local store shows it has all 3 items (But 1 today - 1 in a week - last one a week later)(So not available in reality)(Free next day delivery on orders over £200)

Main item not available for home delivery, cheaper 2 items could be added for home delivery.

Phoned up today, Seems they have the main item in stock but cant be bothered to check if another store has them.  She couldnt be bothered to check (neither could I as I feel the website is so inacurate on stock levels)

I was offered the chance to pay now and collect in an hour (No point as I require all 3 items)

So I ask can I have delivery please. "Sorry Sir" We are not delivering at the moment due to Covid 19.  (Sure they have have an option on thier web page to turn that off)

Rant over
Your Faithfully.

Ordered wipers for the wife's car yesterday (after going out in it and realising that they were shite), picked up after half an hour and fitted in two minutes.

You could order them for click and collect and get them all at the same time at the same store ::)

It took my local branch 8 days to pick a bike they had in stock at the branch and email me to say i could collect  ::)
most items they have can be purchased elsewhere ,much cheaper anyway, albeit without the "Halfrauds" logo on it

The only reason to buy a battery from Halfords is for convenience: when you need one at 15:30 on a Sunday for example. If they can't manage that and a good price for planned purchases, then there are always better options.

To explain.

I started a thread in the Electrical section, as a NOCO GB50 was suggested to help out rather than me get banned from being an AA member. (Even though I have a 5 year warranty on a battery bought from them)(and they now offer unlimited call outs in stead of 5 over a 2 year period)

I decided to go for the bigger model GB70, plus a hard case (Online exlusive price) and a CTEK comfort charger kit (M6)

I have the NOCO hard wire kit coming tomorrow and whilst at it thought I might as well add the NOCO kit - gives 2 options, slow charge (CTEK) or jump start (NOCO)

Likewise, haven't bought a battery from anyone else for about 6-7yrs and that was only when a cold snap left my car stranded at the station and the rather RAC didn't turn up. Useless bunch of **nts.

Bet that warranty doesn't cover repeatedly draining it flat ::)

My boss decided to spend £40 a battery on the works vans. 5 months later one of them broke down at Stansted with what looked suspiciously like a fried ecu :-X

Transpired that the battery was totally dead. £100 later and apparently all fixed, although the person who drives it is the self appointed fitter ::)

Point being that cheap batteries don't take abuse too kindly.

I don't know what you naughty boys do with your cars. My battery is seven years old and seems fine.

Supplied, fitted and warranted by the AA themselves.

(I have heard a few things from the mobile teams that I cant print on here, but the one thing that did drop out in conversation made it seem they dont allways fit brand new batteries.) :-X

Thumbs  up to the AA :y

Came out within 30 mins, cheekily asked if they could fit the hard wire kit for the booster lead & CTEK charger leads. np probs there.

Nipped back to Halfords and they swapped me the GB70 for the GB50 so that came home and got  fully charged., so its nice to be mobile again.

Plus with the advice given I found a hard case for the NOCO on the Tayna site so a good week so far.

Bonus is I also have a huge mobile phone back up battery and a decent torch in the car all the time. :y :y
