Title: TICK OVER PROBLEM
Post by: isywizz on 02 January 2013, 17:15:14
I own a 2001 omega 2.6 v6 which ticks over fine most of the time but sometimes revs to 2000rpm but when u blip the thottle it goes back to idle again. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Does the fbw 2.6 have an idle control valve,? if so it needs a clean, see the maint guides to clean, if not then it will have tps in the throttle body, it might be time to remove the throttle body and clean with carb cleaner and refit
Also check for air leaks in the vac hoses and intake system..

It would be worth getting someone with Tech2 to get some readings.  Could be a sticky Throttle Peddle - They are DBW (Drive By Wire) on the 2.6/3.2.

The DBW V6's do hold the revs when blipping. If its excessive, I'd clean the TBs and breathers...  ...actually, I'd clean them anyway ;)

I've seen 2.6s do this when the MAF is on its' way out before. Worth getting the live data from a Tech 2 to check if the MAF output is reasonable.

Was going to say maf or air leak personally.

Pedal trick? This doesn't work with a dbw fault ime.
