Jeep Grand Cherokee
« on: 11 May 2013, 12:47:48 »

Morning all,
Friends father bought one of these the other day with the 3.0 Mercedes diesel lump. Looks a nice vehicle. Looked on Autotrader and they are very good value compared to a similar age Disco or rangie.
anyone have any experience of one?

Regards
Steve

True  ;D ;D

Recall someone on here had an earlier model, which required welding after very low miles  :o

No rust on mine Tunnie............. ;)

I have a 2005 WJ grand Cherokee, 2.7 Auto, Merc engine and gearbox, traded in a Mig for it..... :y :y

I have to say that I love it, had it close on 2 years and no problems at all, not something you expect to hear on an Omega Forum..... :D :D

Still loads on the tyres that were new when I got it 20k miles or more ago, uses less fuel that the mig as well.... :y :y  Service cost via local independent OK parts OK, had all filters and gearbox oil changed last year no problem, the only thing is I can not reset the service indicator - I know how to........ :P

Luxury inside still quite noisey from the engine, just turn on the radio, and you get seasick on twisty roads - rolls a lot...... :( :(  Considering anti roll bars at the mo. Faster and smoother than the Disco, an option when looking to buy 4x4 Jeep suited me better...... :y :y

Yes you could buy a load of rubbish, but that goes with any car, happy hunting..... :y

If you want a poor riding, noisy, butt ugly four wheel drive vehicle that is not great off road then fill your boots.

Plenty of these types of vehicle to choose from and almost all are better.

The only thing on them to write home about is the engine......and its not thier design.

Oh they do rust....in very similar places!

What does work in thier favour is that they rarely get taken off road as they are crap at it.  ;D ;D
