Omega 'V8.com'
« on: 18 November 2009, 16:43:34 »

All photo's were given to me on a CD by my local Vauxhall dealer.
Here's a few of the V8 Omega that never was, only exterior difference I could notice is the headlights extend right down to the bumper, with no trim underneath them.

Trim is under on the bottom one isn't it, looks horrible without it. How nice is that inside though and the engine :o

I have seen this before and I love it!! 8-) 8-)

Only one fault would be the rear tunnel section being covered by a storage unit; very difficult for any third passenger on the back seat!! :( :(

I do like the two seat arrangement in the back and the extended centre console.

IIRC, the headlights were Holden Commodore units.
I know a guy in the old VXSCC bought a pair for his Omega some time ago and discovered the Holden light units were quite a bit bigger than the Omega units.

Exactly!!  That is what devalues the design; who would want to buy a four seater car at this level when the rest of the range comes with five seats?? :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/

Wrong, that are Opel-Units, and quite special ones, it was Opel's first attempt of Adaptive-Headlights, I saw this on TV a few years ago.

And so does it work, that in the Red box:

..is a electric movable mirror which bend the light of the lamp into the corners, sadly that version of an adaptive headlamp was forbidden, because it streams the light directly into the upcoming traffic. ;)

Sorry for my amateur skills in english, greetz.

No worries - I was never too sure if the lights were Holden or not, it was something bandied about on another car forum a few years ago. ;)

Pity GM/Opel/Vauxhall chickened out of making this a reality at the end of the day, and if you want one, you’ve got to build one yourself !.

Would of been great if plod of had them, and imagine the eagerness to get your mitt's on one when they retired them from operational use !!.

A bloke here in Norway (Frode Engelund) has an Omega A with a BMW V12 in it. I Ironed out a few electrical problems with it a couple of years back (BMW's two-ECU system isn't really good). You can see a poor video of it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Apo3LFgJ4k0.

He is also putting together an Omega (B) with a Viper V10, but not sure how far he is with that project. Think I have to stop by him and have a peek ;)

Oh, some more pics and info from his website: http://www.engelund-racing.com/omegav12.html

I believe that there was also a company called ‘Rats ... (something ?) in Norway who successfully put a V8 Lexus engine + turbo, and it was capable of 200mph, as they took it on the Nuremburg track.
Would love to be the owner of that one, imagine that you’re behind a Bugatti veyron and they take off, and they can’t figure out why an Omega is keeping up with them – Priceless !!!!!.   ;D   :y

I someday want to do something like that with a Facelift-model:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0hjHHgGkEY

But I would use the BMW M5 E39 5.0l V8, 400bhp, I maybe tune it and of course unlock it so it can reach about 200mph, just like the legendary Lotus.

Ok this may sound mad and quite unserious, but the prices for the M5 will drop in Germany in not so much future, before they rise up again, so I may get a crashed one, with working engine for just a couple of thousand €'s

This really would be my dream Omega, as it should have excisted, but never did. I want to make it an reall Luxury Oneoff supersportsaloon, so yes I will make it look good aswell, and not put some 22" Blingbling rims on it, I thought about something like this:

(I took this from Kev's Signature)

Simply an full Cecotto Package, with 19" Insignia Rims, on the Interior I plan to put Vectra VXR/OPC Sportseats, and its Entertainmentsystem/DVD Player, Heated Leatherseats and many more Modern features!  8-)

Well its just a dream of me, but I had a bit of a lag of money, to do that, especially because I bought a House instead, with no garage yet, but given time and patience, I will do! :)

lol. but im sure the Veyron will hit 200 wayyyy before the Omega would, hence you wouldnt even be within 5 car lengths at that speed. seriously.

Ah who cares about that vulgar vag car anyway. Omega, being merely heavy, must surely be much lighter?

That V12 Carlton estate would be perfect without the blingy wheels.

Although I had to laugh at the comparison with the Veyron. It accelerates to 60mph about a second faster than gravity would get you if you jumped off a building, and goes from 130-180mph faster than most cars would go from 30-60.

Nothing will touch that.

Although if we get the guy who built this Capri to do some tinkering with the Carlton, maybe it has a chance.  :y

Physically - yes.
Although the right hand header might foul the steering box without some fairly serious work.
