Car Insurance
« on: 03 October 2011, 13:51:27 »

I got my renewal notice last week. As discussed here before I have a 'Home Fleet' policy from Tradex. Last year, for the 3 cars (3.0 Omega, 1.7 diseasal Astra & Smart Roadster) & 2 drivers it had gone up a massive £40ish  ::) from around £718 to£760. This year it's gone up to £818, which I don't think is bad. Just out of interest I enquired about including my daughter on the policy, she's 22 & passed her test Jan 2008, although not cheap the quote was £1564. Considering that young lads are paying £2000 - £3000 for their insurance on basic Astras etc I thought the quote was quite competitive.

Interesting. I see it covers bikes too, tunnie fleet is: 2 x F/L 2.2 Omega CD's 1 x F/L 3.0 Elite Estate 1x Nissan Almera 1x BMW GS 1200 & the 3.2 project car.

Might be worth investigating.

Thanks for posting  :y

I asked about them covering my bike, but to quote the girls I spoke to ...... "we're not very competitive with motorbikes"  :-\ :-\

Gotta say that I was quite impressed last week. There is only one insurer that will cover the new business and it's a full trade policy. Just shy of £1200 for both myself and SWMBO, FC on any vehicle (subject to the conditions agreed) with a £15k own claim indemnity, £500 excess. Not as bad as I was expecting TBH :y

And Admiral get a big  :y too because I rang and explained the change in situation, the agreed that they wouldn't cover the van because it is fitted with a fuel tank and cancelled my policy with no questions asked :y Also advised me that to cancel SWMBO's policy I would have to pay it in full (due to a claim  :-X) so I may as well leave it running. All good advice and can't fault them for it :y :y
