The diseasal Astra ....
« on: 12 October 2011, 20:57:19 »

.... passed its MOT this afternoon. Close call with the emissions though - he'd to cheat a little to make it pass though  ::) ::)

It's predecessor had 175000 miles on the clock & used to do the emissions dead easy, this 'low milage' 105000 miles car has struggled with the past 2 MOTs  :-\ :-\ :-\

Good engines those if it's the 1.7, had 5 of those engines in various different vehicles, only one let me down and that was a £100 fix  :y How old is the air & diesel filter, I know when I changed those on mine they smoked quite a bit less  :)

It's still hooked up to the same bit of kit as they hook my petrol Omega up to .......  :-\ :-\ :-\

but, having just got the print off, you're right. It's a 'smoke opacity analysis' & the car's mean value was 2.78 (limit of 3.00  ???)

it's the 1.7 TD You're probably right with both filters, I noted the fuel filter had seen better days when I removed after my senior moment with the unleaded the other week and the air filter just got a 'blow job'  ::) ::) with an airline the lst time it saw day light.  :y :y
I'll try to do them both before next year's MOT  ;D ;D
