air con leak locations
« on: 06 July 2013, 19:32:31 »

Had the air con die last year. Fella came out and topped it up which got it working again. I wasnt that impressed with his lack of tools and whinging and had a feeling that wasnt the end of the issue.

Called out the company recommended on here and after a brief chat with the fella i knew he was a tad more knowledgeable.

Aware there was going to be a leak still present, plenty of dye was added.

Question is, where the first/ most common place to check?

As above or either/both of the HP or LP fill valves and  in my case a pressure switch of some sort screwed in near the front fill valve (can never remember which is which  :-\ ::))

most common is the condensor, then the l/p port then the h/p port, then front seal on the compressor.
pipe work is quite reliable as are the pressure valves. remember the newest omega system is 10 years old now,
evaporators are very reliable if thats gone, well its dash out time.,and theres a valve behind the glove box cant think what thats called.

The pipe running from the bulkhead anlong the p/s front chassis rail and under the battery tray has a tendency to chaf on the chassis leg and develop a pin hole leak. i have done 3 in 7 years. approx 60 pounds from andy c.
