Title: mis behaving sunroofs/abs issues

Was fitting a new meter to the beastie today. This takes its speed signal from the blue/red wire to the sunroof.

I was wondering if anyone who had had a problem with their sunroofs then went on to have a failure of the abs ecu. :-/

As I understand it, the sunroof adjusts itself according to road speed, hence the speed signal. If it's sensitive to the strength of the signal, they could it play up first, ie before the dash clocks? :-/

Just a thought.

the sunroof needs speed signal for the comfort feature.. its written in tis somewhere. petrol sunroofs need it while diesel don't need it, or the other way around. i know this because i have petrol sunroof ecu and the comfort feature doesn't work  unless i unplug the sunroof

What is this "comfort feature" :-?

rollin windows up and closing sunroof when you press the key fob closed button for 1,2,3 secs :). it doesn't open them, just close them when you are in a rush

What`s that got to do with "road speed adjustment" as in the original post :-? :-? :-?

Think that when the roof is raised, it adjusts the position according to road speed, in order to minimise buffeting. :-/

The question is whether the sunroof opening/closing by itself a sign of impending abs failure? :-/

no it doesn't adjusts itself acording to speed.. the speed function is used just for confort feature .robg thats what i was saying. taxi al try a reset, and clean the black disk.

Years ago, I emailed Vauxhall asking why there was a speed input to the sunroof ie why did the sunroof need to know how fast you were going? My reply was that it should close itself above 'certain speeds'. I tested mine at a local motorway track at 128 and the sunroof remained wide open  :-?. When I then asked Vauxhall what this 'certain speed' was and that my roof remained open at silly mph they said there must be a fault then & to take my car to a local dealer for fault diagnosis.  ;D ;D

andy they probably wanted some more money for some tech 2 programing of your sunroof :))
this is the only mention i got about the speed signal and sunroof from tis
