I ordered mine from Funplates. Great service! I ordered plates with an English flag on them and 3D digits, but for whatever reason I got plain plates delivered. Matt couldn't have been more helpfull when I phoned & very quickly sent out the correct plates ..... obviously foc  :y  :y

Thats because they are illegal  ;)

So's the English flag ....... but I've got both on the new plates he sent ....

Plod won't be happy, their ANPR systems don't like fancy text on number plates  ;D

cool cant think of a better way to wind them up lol

I can think of better ways, if their camera has trouble and they find you. Likely to pull you over.

cant see what the issue is with them then, as long as they are standard height and standard width and are spaced correctly thats all that matters imho, i have never had issues with m.o.t`s or police with plates before even when i had carbon fibre look a like lettering

technically they are illegal on paper, like HIDs without washers and sensors, but at the end of the day you can get by.

But they still can do you for it, like small number plats on bikes.

That's just an invitation for the police to stop you.

Never been pulled on the XJ since we built it (over 2 years now), and the plate on that sits somewhere between "You're having a laugh" to "You're taking the pi$$ sunshine"

As it happens, I'm doing both.
The plate being small is having the laugh, and the slogan at the bottom is the taking the pi$$ part  ;D

But though how many do actually ask for that when you buy online?
If the plates are going to be for road use, then by law they have to see original docs before they can issue the plate.
The ONLY legal get out for purchasing number plates without ID is to sign a declaration stating they are for show use/off road use only.

If the seller is across the border i.e Scotland their law regarding plates is different. They do not require proof of ownership or any ID to buy plates.
Remember in this country England,Wales it is illegal to sell plates without ID and doc's but not illegal to buy without.County flags and euroland stars were made legal to display this summer.
Regarding BS kite marks since last year, a mot station can not fail a car for not having the marks on the plates due to over 20,000 cars failing because of un-marked plates in 2 years. The law stating all plates must have the BS kite mark will be again reinstituted  from July 2010 but this may changed due to EU legation.
