Front suspension/steering check ...

Some abnormal tyre wear and the odd noise. Would like to know what I need to replace prior to a full WIM visit .. :)

Would like a chat with a Tech 2 to ascertain a 'live' temperature reading if possible please Daz.

Wouldn't mind a wishbone check before visiting WIM too, if possible please.
No problems apparent, would just appreciate piece of mind.

Thanks!

Looking to get the front wishbones & droplinks done as well as the rear donut bushes before WIM on the monday.  Happy to help with brake discs & pads etc and will also have my Tech2.  Might take the grey plug for towing to get that wired in as well, if I remember in time.  Will have trolly jack & axle stands and bits and bobs as well.  :y

Hoping Mark will bring some seals for my (coolant) weeping top.

Anyone with the climate "unrush fans" mod' would be welcome - JB?

Thoughts on a rear? wheel bearing (pretend I didn't say that).

Other than that I'm happy just to say hi and drink beer  :y  (I usually try and not talk b*****x but you never know I might make this an exception.)

If possible, a helping hand with removing my sump would be good. I'm sure I could probably manage to do that, but not sure on cleaning the oil pick up etc. I'll get some of the grey sealent aswell, so just really someone to make sure I don't do anything wrong would be good. I'll bring plenty of oil aswell. I'll bring all the tools I have, and anyone's more than welcome to borrow them if neeed  :y

I'd like my cambelt done, bringing belt kit & water pump. Do I need sealant for the pump or is the gasket included?

also Tech 2 check for illuminated engine management light & gearbox upgrade.

Can bring loads of bits ala fiesta at Telford

1. New key fob to be programmed.

2. Steering components check.

Steering Idler has been done but still too much play in steering wheel when driving straight ahead, makes motorway driving a bit of a pain...and I do loads!

Could do with a hand to check over everything back from steering wheel to wheels.

Can do wishbones and rear bushes to take the load off, but i think The Boy may want his hubs changing, and i dont mean just wheel barings. so camber and toe may be affected, which will take some fiddling around.

I am driving down on the Thursday and booked for WIM later Monday morning.

Happy to do brake discs and pads for others as well as Tech2.  Looking to confirm/advance my T2 apprenticeship by assistance from others more knowledgeable....   ;)

As a slight aside, I brass necked it a bit earlier last week in a VX dealership whilst I was on my travels and managed to bag a pair of new/old stock gen VX wishbones (label pick date is 2004/2005!!) for 'a Good Price'...

As a result, have a pair of still wrapped Lemfoders from All German that I bought a few weeks ago.  Will put them in the car as well, just in case a suspension check on someones car (Entwood/Sethsmate/whoever??) shows up a set of duffers and they can be bought from me, if desired, at the price I paid.   :y

I can do the door lock solenoid on Bob's car and possibly drop the sump on Josh's if required.

Who's bringing tools etc? I'm a bit stuck for space for axle stands etc but Jane will be coming down either late friday or sat afternoon so can bring some axle stands / trolley jack etc.

I'll do anything to help out, whether that be simple bits here and there, or passing tools around etc.
Unfortunately I don't really have many technical skills to offer. But I'll bring all the chemicals I use when cleaning the vehicle I have in stock, so if there are any scratches, or cleaning that's needed I'll happily do that. Even if it's leave your vehicle with me for 45 mins, and I'll tidy it up a bit.
Thanks Andy to offering to help with my sump removal, but it's not critical...I only wanted to do it to clean/check the oil pick up feed and give it a general going over...so if there's not time, that's not a problem.
My vehicle will be pretty empty so if anyone doesn't have enough space for tools, I can always pick them up.

Presumably there's a gasket to replace on reassembly?

Will also need oil and oil filter (paper type I should imagine on a 2.6) as will be dropping the oil anyway!

PS. Josh there's some light scratches on the bonnet and boot of the DTi Elite if you want to have a go at them!!!  ::) :)

That's something I'm not sure about Andy. I seem to recall reading recently that there is a gasket, but it doesn't need to be replaced, instead grey sealent is used to on re-fitting of the sump, and just grey sealant is used to fill the space.
Got plenty of oil, and oil filters.

And yep, we'll see what we can do with those scratches  :y

EDIT: Oops too slow, thanks Andy B for confirming. How much grey sealant do I need? One tube or more?

One tube would do a dozen sump pans, it comes in a tube like bathroom silcone sealent, but about 1/3 as big. I only used a small percentage of the tube when I refitted my sump pan, and threw the hardened remants away recently  :y  :y

Josh, I bought a professional polishing kit with all the attachments after someone keyed the Mrs MX5. I haven't  used it yet but it may be of use so I'll bring it along. We can use my car as a guinea pig as I've a few scratches.

I don't have any specific polishing compounds for glass (someone mentioned lights) so if anyone need theirs doing you'll have to bring some but you're all welcome to borrow the polisher.

been on hols, and will be until we arrive friday hopefully before dark to set the tent up, may be earlier.

i have tools in boot and compresor behind passenger seat for air ratchet/bushes/shoulder/time saving. i know you guys are not a fan of air tools with good reason but arms and shoulders will be hanging off with the amount if work we have here i would think?

also have grey and black goo, oil cooler washers, crows feet, stands, usual halfords tool kit. etc.

deliberately left my can of spray in copper slip at home btw.

sort of expdcting to help TB with hus hubs abnd reset the camber etc after, and wishbones and bushes where needed, but what ever needs doing really. Cam belts and in the v work not a problem. afaic.

Good idea Chris  :y
I'll bring my camera aswell.
Even down to the sump removal on my Omega, take a few pictures and make a quick guide afterwards. I think most jobs will be tackled this weekend. I'm looking forward to a weekend of learning lots of new things.

I'm going to leave my hubs until another day, as I don't think I can physically tackle them for a few days, so that should free up some time to get all these jobs completed comfortably.

Please sir (Mr DTM), can I be on light duties, as getting on and off the floor is not easily possible currently  :-[.  I should be able to manage top end engine stripping/rebuilding, possibly more if I heal well  :-[ :-[
