Hi Guys.
Well I am a newbie so I will introduce myself, years ago I had a Vauxhall Senator and it was the best car I had ever bought, wish I still had it, anyhow I bought a Pajero to pull our caravan and when I worked out the milage I was getting 16 mile to the gallon towing, so one of my mate said to get an omega, 2.2 dti cdx, well I bought one tonight, and I wondered if I would love it as much as the senator, I pick it up on friday, I think I got a great deal, 2001 model, FSH, 2 owners, 116000 miles but it is a Diesel, so really that should be nothing, its Panther Black, with Cream Leather Upholstery, loads of toys including sat nav, paid £1650. does that seem a good buy. Hope so, I will await your feedback.
Regards

Hello and a warm welcome to you Tankie! :y
I too regret the passing of my Senator; did yours also go due to rust on rear arches by any chance, as much as expensive towing!! ;)
-
Hi.
Yes it did start rusting over the back wheel arches, I had them done but it started again, I would love to find another Senator, but they are like hens teeth, best car I have ever had, oh well, I will see how the Omega is, I am sure I will fall in love with it, I have never even driven one.
Regards
John

Welcome. The Omega does make a great towcar. The Senator v Omega debate is normally very passionate ;D
-
The Boy,
Thank You for your welcome, So what do you think about Omega v Senator, is not the Omega really the Senator of today??

I think the Omega is a significantly better car - better handling, and faster. But many ex-Senny owners always put on their rose tinted specs...
-
I must admit, I loved my Senator, it was the best car I have ever owned, and that is not through Rose tinted glasses, I travelled from the UK all over Germany in her and she never let me down, she was a 2.4 manual, like an armchair on wheels, saying that, I have never had an Omega so I can not really judge against the two BUT if the Omega is anything like the Senator, I will be more than happy, I pick mine up on Friday, she is a 2.2 TDI CDX, I also want her to tow my caravan, I am using a Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 and I am getting 17 miles to the gallon towing, I hope I get more outof the Omega.
-
Hi Tankie, welcome aboard :y
I too loved my Senator but in all honesty I have to agree with Jamie, the Omega is imho a better car all round (assuming a decent spec and right number of cylinders 8-) )
