BT Connections
« on: 06 November 2010, 16:35:22 »

When I moved 18 months ago I was told there was no BT line installed allthough socket and cabeling where in place.

I then had to take a 12 month contract and pay £122.50 to get a new line in, when the engineer turned up he plugged some sort of phone in and it blurted out the hoises current telphone number which I now believe to be one tel or something similar.  Then after an arguement with BT I found out they could of installed the phone for free if they had singed me up for 18 months (This was never mentioned)

Am now helping to sort a friends phone line out, Virgin are laying a main cable and individual house boxes to one of the main roads but cant/wont commit to hr road at this point in time.

Had a chat with BT, connection is now £127.50 so I brought up the 18 month contract idea only to hear thats now only available for free if BT internet is added which works out at £14 a month on top of the anytime phone deal if he gave me the correct information.

Question, is there any way that we can find out who the last phone provider is/was and see what they can offer.

Plus what/who are the cheapest phone companies these days.

TIA.   :y

I am about to move one of my lines to Zen as they now do the local loop.  They aim to undercut BT but install is likely to be close as BT do them anyway I believe.

I would just love to know who was the last service on the line to save paying BT to reconnect.   :-/
