As already mentioned of course there are only two genders. Self identification ( of which the number of possibilities is endless) is not a gender.

A post mortem/autopsy would reveal the truth. The corpse will be either male or female regardless of self identification.

People can self-identify as whatever they like but for the purpose of a census I think it should be mandatory to identify as either male of female.

Some of he information within it will be used to  'direct resources' where they are needed most. For example, if the number of 'men' is higher than expected then extra facilities could be made available to help combat prostrate and testicular cancer.

If the number of women is higher than expected then more money may be needed for maternity care. Men identifying as women can never give birth so it is important we know the actual sex of people rather than how they see themselves.

I am trying to state the opposite side to what many are thinking and saying on here to challenge their perceptions.  Many, many specialists in the fields of both sexuality and gender recognise not everyone is born just male or female. The spectrum for both is very wide. As for autopsies DG, they have been done on those identified as trans.  It was found that in, many studies, that their brains DID conform more to the gender they identified with, rather than the gender identified at birth.

There is simply so much that has been scientifically established in studies on the aspects of gender and sex.  But there is still far more to be established.

Everyone is entitled to their personal views, as expressed on this and the ABC thread.  However there is a fine line on stating personal views and causing real, painful, offence to people, sometimes young in years, amounting to Hate Crime.  Simple so called innocent statements by unconvinced individuals can and does result in many suicides as those afflicted with the conditions being debated coming to a conclusion there is no hope for them.  I personally have known of numerous cases of this, and as I stated have studied it.

So please be careful in expressing your views everyone.  Just keep your minds open and except the possibility that you do not know the facts and could be wrong, as I have already proved over some comments about “nature”.

Yes Rangie, I should have learnt to do that a long time ago.  DG does know his stuff though when it comes to cars, but apart from that he can be bloody annoying - always has been - with him always hounding me after I have given my opinion, and that is all it is, my opinion, but he usually does not like it.  Only his opinion counts, and he thinks he is always right!!
