Another pass
« on: 27 August 2013, 19:32:02 »

Just MOT'd the Omega this afternoon ready for taking to Newent (got shouted at for turning up in a Merc last year  ::) ::)) talk about leaving it to the last minute  ;D ;D.

It could do with ..........
a couple of tyres for the back (they were borderline last year  :-[)
front offside wishbone bush .... singular  ;)
a couple of brake pipes could do with a wire brushing & greasing up

If only I'd got my harris into gear a couple of weeks ago & I wouldn't be running around like the proverbial blue bottomed fly before Friday morning!  ??? ???

Go for the polly.

Easier to fit and in my opinion make no difference to the softness of the ride just more responsive steering wise.

+1 :y It doesn't feel harsh but I have lost that feeling that the front wheels are only held in place by old knicker elastic.

To recap current thinking - take a pair of front wishbones that don't look to shabby, remove the old bushes and balljoints and fit:
- Poly front bushes
- GM rear bushes
- quality balljoints (I lost track of the recommendations so I bought GM)

fit to car & get WIM to do full geometry.

I was a bit shocked at how much play there was around the bolts for the replacement balljoints. I centered them as close as I could but I could easily have assembled them with one arm effectively 10mm longer than the other. :-\
