guys no one seems to have any v6 cam covers at the moment  (see previous post) and i need to get my car back on the road, im not sure wether i can re-use my old cam cover as there is a bit missing,the bit missing is at the top of the cover (see pic) i dont want to pay vauxhall prices if i can help it, i probably will have to get a new one but any ideas?

Try ClarCE.  He was breaking a V6 (I am not sure if 3.0 camcovers are the same as 2.5, or indeed what his is).

I'm not really asleep, honest.. not only are kit cars taking over my life, but now we've put a pool in the back garden (as well as an omega  :-?)

are you replacing them with metal ones? I bought a pair from a vectra forum for 20 quid and they go straight on.

except the oil filler is wrong

still works though! I fitted them with the filler on the drivers side at the back, a bit more fiddly to get the oil in but well worth the effort not to have leaking covers, ever!

Done properly, the Omega ones are not prone to failure once replaced.  With proper care, they should only have to be changed once as a maximum.

Blocked breathers are the biggest enemy, and I would rather it blew a cam gasket than a crank seal one if oil pressure gets too high due to breathers....

The cynic in me says that they are unlikely to fail in the first 60 - 80k, and what happens after is of no concern to Vauxhall....   ....a bit like 20k oil changes when NO motor oil lasts beyond 7 - 9k
