Can anyone recommend the best pliers/tool for removing Omega fuel lines? It's something I'll be getting the use out of, in so far as I'm never getting rid of the old fat black girl. I've fought once before with various pliers/grips/homemade tools and never again! 


I see various choices from this....







to this so-called 'proper' Opel tool KL-0121-35 



Seen various ones, but don't want to buy three or four tools of varying quality before I find the 'right' one. What do the pros use?  Thanks in advance

I have used these type frequently too but I would go for a slightly more manly design for everyday use. The ones I've linked to are useful in a tight space though

Is there a Machine Mart near you? Clarke CHT441 although you can get them cheaper elsewhere. You'll use the red handled pliers.


If you can find either of the middle tools in your photos at a price you can accept, they'll be even better.


Seriously, anything that will pinch the lugs together will be good enough. Just like the spring hose clamps, getting a tool in place is usually the hard part

Buy a pair of long nose pliers from poundland, heat the tips and bend them in 90 degrees in a vice.

  I Should be more specific - anyone who hasn't already. 

The second in my pics is looking favourite currently, though I prefer the 'look' of the 3rd; however, the 2nd ones seem to be able to get in at funny angles, whereas the 3rd looks like you'd need to be on it pretty square/at right-angles only. Not sure if this be the case in reality, though. 

Only reason I mention brand/personal experience is there's world of difference between the feel of cheap pliers and quality ones, grip, play, softness of metal etc.... which obviously you can't tell by an ebay pic

The ones I have feel cheap because they are. But they work, and they're small which can be important when the joint is buried in the depths of the engine bay. I paid about £6 for the set, which is definitely quicker, and probably cheaper, than growing extra hands to undo them with 2 screwdrivers.


I would replace them with something that looks like your third example.
