Think i have found the leak- a hose to the front right of the plenum has a little split next to the jubilee clip and there is water above the right side spark plug cover area

The hose was a bit of a red herring I'm afraid.

I can see a drip of coolant on the bell housing so I'm thinking its the HBV, going to whip the scuttle off and have a look. Thanks for all the replys

Make sure you check for leaks with the heater at various hot/cold settings  :y :y

Maybe too late now but i could just about reach into the underneath of the hbv to feel around without taking scuttle off , carefully though and using protection on arms ...its like fighting with cats claws in there  ::)

Not really  :)...... i remember getting my arm in then got it stuck  ::) ;D

Well the HBV is pissing it everywhere (having bright pink coolant helped). New one ordered. :y

Got to work out why the inside of the front tyres (newish Goodyears too) are bald despite the car seeming to track perfectly and have no clonks  :D
