I wonder if those on board were aware that their worlds nearly ended at the end of the runway. Look at the height of the tail near the fence.

I must admit, I do like it when pilots do a proper take-off and not one of these wimpish rolling ones.

We did nightime tactical take offs & landings in and out of Khandahar & Bastion...no lights!  Now that is a ride and a half

Far more "fun" in an aging C130K into KABUL (check out the topography!!!) when the NVG system was simply cobbled together and relied on cylumes taped to the major instruments ... .. but we knew no better ....

Never landed (or took off) a plane in my life - except in the Simulator (when I crashed a few times) ... 

The two-winged master race had that bit of work to do, then they went to sleep while the rest of us (NAV, FE, ALM) got the job of getting from A to B in one piece done efficiently ..
