...... at getting the latest 21.5" iMac.

Had a test-drive in-store, was well-impressed, and loved it. :y
Got Mrs Sethsmate's approval too, and after superb service with our present eMac, we're seriously contemplating going ahead with getting one. :D

Anyone had any experiences/got any pointers?

General Discussion Area / Photo Hosting
« on: 24 March 2010, 17:35:48 »
I thought that it might be a good idea to have a Photobucket thingy of my own.

Added my details as requested, and guess what? - up popped a reminder telling me that before I proceed further, I'm entering an insecure site.

Then I thought about an Imageshack jobbie, but similarly decided against it too.

Any guidance for this novice, anyone?

General Discussion Area / Solder - in a tube?
« on: 20 January 2010, 21:38:03 »
Anyone heard of 'solder in a tube' ?

A mate told me about this stuff earlier, but couldn't remember where he'd seen it, or where it could be bought from. Apparently, it works similarly to superglue - like you squeeze it onto a joint, and hey presto - connectivity and conductivity in one squeeze of the tube.

Anyone ............ ?

General Discussion Area / Disc 'finalising'
« on: 01 September 2009, 19:40:17 »
Thought that I'd download one of my iTunes playlists to disc, so that we'd have some decent music playing in the tractor on our journey to Newent ......
Disc burned okay, but won't play in the car's CDR500, or my music centre. However, it plays perfectly well in my neighbour's ghetto-blaster!

I'm told that the disc needs to be 'finalised' - can anyone explain/help?
Apparently, this can be done by running the disc thro' our household DVD player ...... anyone?

General Discussion Area / Mother's funeral thanks
« on: 15 June 2009, 12:11:28 »
Everyone in the 'Sethsmate household' would sincerely like to thank you all for your kindness and sympathy shown during our recent sad loss.

Her funeral passed-off last Friday without a hitch and was well-attended, though it was obviously a very emotional occasion for us.
She was mother to two, grandmother to four, and great-gran to six, and will be sadly missed.

We're planning some R&R later in the week, and spending a few days down at Gower, our favourite getaway destination.
We'll be hitching-up the caravan to the tractor for a relaxing break.
Thanks again all!

General Discussion Area / Another funeral
« on: 11 June 2009, 19:12:54 »
Tomorrow's a sad day here - it's my mother's funeral, and I'd like to thank all of you for the kind messages of sympathy that you've posted to date.

As requested, my brother and I, along with my son and son-in-law, are the poll-bearers, on this, her last journey.
We can take great comfort however, from the fact that she'd had a good life, and died peacefully after a very long illness.

Zulu77's comforting words are particularly poignant - he rightly says that there can be no greater tribute shown than to bear her weight on the journey to her final resting place.
I'll not forget those moving words of his. Cheers mate!

Again, sincere thanks to you all for taking the time to support us at this difficult time.

What a year so far .......
The latest bombshell has been the death of my 78 year-old mother after a very long illness.
She'd been in a care home for some time cruelly suffering from dementia, but at least she passed away peacefully. She'll be laid to rest in a few days time - brother and I, plus sons-in-law, will be poll-bearers as requested - a fitting end to a good life.
God bless her.

General Discussion Area / Another 'knighthood' !
« on: 24 May 2009, 14:41:42 »
Congratulations Sir, for you're unstinting 'tractor-tuning' efforts down there in 'Sospan'

Gosh, it's been a great week so far, (being ever cautious!).

Markseth's newly-acquired tractor flew it's MoT on Saturday last, (after some 'Valleys TLC'), and now I've been honoured with a knighthood!
Things are indeed looking up!

All good stuff here on OOF - lively chat, and giving/receiving help and advice. Long may we continue to thrive!

My long-standing colleague 'markseth' has recently acquired his third tractor, so I expect he'll be putting in an appearance here soon!

It's a cracking '99 CD manual saloon with extremely spirited performance, that was picked-up for a very fair price, though with a short MoT. 115k on the clock and all the toys working.
Whilst he's been away on holiday, I've spent a day or two giving it the full monty, plus some fettling. It flew it's MoT test this morning, with nil defects - so I guess he's gonna be well-pleased when he returns to The Valleys next week.

I'll see if I can get him to post-up a piccy ASAP. Personally, I'm dead chuffed for him!

What d'ya all say ...... ?

It's taken a while, but I've just become a 'Senior' chappy.

Been great thus far, getting and offering advice and assistance. A sincere 'Valleys thank you' to all fellow OOFers, and long may the forum continue!
