1.206. Not that good when you factor in the Euro is struggling. Still not to be sniffed at. I dare say it will go up a couple more points over the next few days.

Cheap Euroland holidays again for Brits.

Time for the blame game.

Labour. We would have won if it hadnt been for Brexit.

We lost because we had Corbyn as our leader.

I wonder if Corbyn will resign as leader and take his momentum elsewhere?

Corbyn by saying they need a period of reflection before he goes is just showing his Marxist ideology at work. When you gain a position of power never, ever, ever volunteer to relinquish it. IMV he is hanging on to the job, until the election failure passes & will then try to hang on for good. :(

It's the membership who choose the leader of the Labour party and the membership are overwhelmingly hard left Momentum types.  ;)

Momentum will want to maintain their control and influence and will make sure that a Corbynista is elected to the leadership, and they will plough on with their hard left agenda.  ::)

Well if they want to leave, and think they have enough tax payers to support them, then let them go, as that means all English tax collections stay in England, if you talk to people with a bit of education, they all stay that the amounts Scotland would make from oil and whiskey, isn't as much as WEE Jimmy thinks, and Ireland would struggle to.

Between a rock and a hard place. :-\

Boris Johnson is not the new messiah. He is an inbred bumbling upper-class buffoon. :-\

But what of the alternatives?

A slip of a girl who should really be attending to her husband and children.........or a sad old man with a watch that stopped working in 1978.

All in all I prefer bumbling old Bojo.......in the same way I would prefer a dose of the pox to cancer.

On purely financial terms your right. Historically when the heavy industry was still around, the North of England, Scotland, Wales and Norn Irn more than paid their way within the UK. But those days are gone and aren't coming back.
Despite what anyone wants to believe, Scotland and the rest of the UK 50 miles outside of London, is heavily subsidised by Southern English taxpayers, and would flounder without that subsidy.
Theres more to it than just financial considerations though. The UK has been an incredibly successful political union for centuries, whether in warfare, industry, the arts, culture etc. etc. and I believe all concerned will rue the day  if it is ever broken up.
The UK has punched above its weight for a very long time in almost every measurable way.
It might be a clever move from Boris to flood Scotland with more cash for two or three years, then give them another referendum, hopefully win it, and shoot Wee Jimmys fox in the process.

I’m pleased boris got in. But like Albs says he’s not a messiah. He better deliver this f.....g brexit or I will personally go down there and... well in reality if brexit doesn’t get done I’d protest by never voting again.

I thank corbynski for being an immovable object as leader. I wonder if labour had got a fresh face a year ago whether the stupid public would have voted differently. Though obviously this was brexit v remain and at least for now faith is restored in the British public.

It was also lovely to see Jo Swinson get handed an arse tanning. Just gutted it wasn’t me doing the tanning. Having said that she’s been wearing the same green dress for the whole campaign so one wonders if it’s like a tuna taco 🌮 downstairs 😩😩😩😩🤮🤮🤮🤮

If it wasn't for Nigel Farage, Theresa May would still be PM and we'd have been voting in a 2nd BREXIT referendum on Thursday rather than a GE.  ;)

With a majority of 80 Boris will no longer be held to ransom by the Victorian undertaker and the rest of the ERG. They are history.

Brexit will now be a soft compliant Euro-friendly Brino. That is one thing Farage has right. :)

If it wasn't for Farage we wouldn't have had a referendum in the first place. You might think that a good thing or a bad thing, but its the truth.
Whether or not he has, or wants, any kind of future in politics remains to be seen, but he will always be a hero to me for bring democracy and sovereignty back to this country.

I suspect after his Grenfell gaff and getting kicked into the Zummerzet weeds for the election campaign, JRM will be returned to the backbenches for the foreseeable future.  ::)

And far from being a far right dictator that the leftie types will depict him, I think Boris will be a centerist PM as he will be keen to keep all those new voters onside.  ;)

Yes and the Guardian are so far left that I'm surprised that they havn't branded Jo Swinson as a right wing nutter!  ;D

As to BREXIT, in my view Boris has 2 choices to achieve his aim of getting a deal by the end of next year.  Firstly he could do a Theresa May and simply agree to all of the EU's demands or secondly he plays hardball and walks away with a bare bones agreement that just gives zero tariffs, zero quotas and mutual recognition of standards.

Time will tell what we will end up with, but my preference would be the bare bones arrangement that leaves us with the loosest possible relationship with the EU and gives us the greatest flexibility to deal with other countries and trading blocks.  :y

I wonder if labour had got a fresh face a year ago whether the stupid public would have voted differently.
I think it could have been quite different.  Labour had the right manifesto (if you are a socialist), but the wrong leader.  Many, many people voted Tory, myself included and against my better judgement, purely to stop Corbyn.

Though obviously this was brexit v remain and at least for now faith is restored in the British public.
The media spout that, but I don't think it really was.  Even I don't think the British public are that stupid. If it was, surely the Brexit party under that other unelectable 'tard Farage might have sneaked some seats.

I think most remainers respect democracy, so would potentially vote to leave if their had been a People's Vote or whatever.  The fear from the Brexiteers side would be those disgruntled leave voters who have now discovered the promises, such as the £350m a week to the NHS and the EU would roll over and give us anything, were always outright lies.

The choice will be hard leave, or almost all in.  Have you not paid attention since the referendum?

I think the whole world sees BoJo's deal as worse than TM's.

And to lose your biggest trading partner when you are a tiny, insignificant island leaves you with minimal options in a multinational world.  China is fast becoming a place not to snuggle up with, which starts to leave us vulnerable to being the 51st state.

I've been paying enough attention to see that the dynamics have now changed drastically and that there will be a deal of some sort.  So all your talk of losing our biggest trading partner is 'dangle berries' frankly, and it all comes down to who Boris plays hardball with, the EU for a bare bones FTA or the Brexiteers/ERG in the Tory party for a BRINO status.  ::)

Would becoming the 51st state be worse than being the 28th state ?

We don't have to be either.  We can be friends, cooperate and have free trade arrangements with the USA and the EU without having to integrate with either.  ;)

As far as I know its Theresa Mays deal, but he has thrown Norn Irn under the bus. I believe that's the only alteration to it, but I hope Im wrong.
If Gove hadn't stabbed him in the back after Cameron ran off, Boris could have negotiated a different deal to spineless May three years ago, but we are where we are I suppose.
Im still not sure if her utter uselessness cost May a majority at the last election, or if she actually wanted to lose it.
I only hope that the parts of the EU we are still attached to, and shouldn't be, are things that can be unpicked in the future once the dust is settled. Otherwise, we will have to wait for it to collapse, which might take a few decades.

The EU isn't free trade, it is a tightly controlled common market with 27 different opinions. Being out of it and genuinely free to trade independently can only be a good thing.

Lunun does have some commercial value as a global tourist destination in much the same way as places like Paris and Venice, and is in that regard highly rated. Millions of tourists every year do wonders for the local and greater economies and isn't something to be sniffed at. Although I would never volunteer to live, work or visit the place.

Likewise, it is still a leading player in the global market arena.

UK Plc still has a lot to offer.

Couldn't agree more, in the same way as many European capitals like Paris, Rome, Athens and so on.  As do other UK cities, such as Oxford and Edinburgh. They bring in many £'s to our empty coffers.  And the US £'s will keep coming, and if our currency stays low, still makes it affordable for our European cousins, despite any additional costs getting here :)

And I concur with the last sentence as well. Its not for me. Nor is Paris, which is essentially just like London, but smells more. Can't comment on Athens, as I've not been since I was about 2 ;D

Working in a multinational corporate company, with multinational suppliers and customers who I get to talk to regularly, it is most definitely not THE city. Its a city, but there are many others that people put higher.  Sadly, in the case of some of our vendors, its London we drag them to ;D

For me, touching on what DG mentioned, I cannot see how 27 countries all wanting different things could possibly work. This is one of the main reasons I voted leave. Square pegs, round holes etc.

Also to be in this less than perfect arrangement we probably pay a lot in. Forget the 350 million 'dangle berries' that was on the bus and I don’t know how much nor do I really care. But it’ll be a lot. But these are the reasons. I personally don’t believe we are a nobody country. But I do acknowledge we are not the empire we used to be.

As for London I like visiting. Soooo much history. And loads of cool things to see and do. ABSOLUTELY wouldn’t want to live there.

My god when will it end :-[

Never unfortunately.  ::)

As long as the EU exists there will be a faction that will want the UK to be a member, they will constantly campaign for that and it will be like a running sore that never heals.  :(

Nothing we aren't used to, really.. look at Ireland/Eire. Scotland/England. Gibraltar/Spain. Falklands/Argentina. Now we just get to add EU/UK to the list, I guess, and wait for the EUA to start blowing things up?

Steve Bray "Mr STOOOOOOOOOP BREEEEEEEEXIT". Has hung up his megaphone at last. Hopefully he will be locked in a room with rubber walls wearing a jacket which does up at the back, and will never be seen or heard in public again.

Just seen this moron interviewed on tv. He said "we (the remainers) will never give up. We cant give up. We have Boris Jonnson as PM, its Germany in the 1930,s now, and look how that turned out."
All because a democratic vote went the way he didn't want. Words fail me.

If that was true, this goon would have been dealt with by something like the SA and made to disappear quite some months ago, and the likes of Corbyn would also have been "eradicated" ::) ::) :D ;)

Nay, lad. When you speak of Yorkshire, people visualise the green and pleasant land that is North Yorkshire. It's not so green and pleasant in south, west or east.

Yorkshire is a place to stop on the way to Scotland to generate the miserable mood necessary to survive Scotland.

The Yorkies(that's what they're called isn't it?) willingly help you with this process :y

Ah but we take the rough with the smooth, suave and sophisticated.

Bit like the Lancashire and the South East of England

Watching the News at 10 earlier I had to laugh at the sight of Boris and Jezza walking to the House of Lords for the Queen's speech, with Boris grinning like a cheshire cat and Jezza looking like he was on his way to an appointment with the Lord High Executioner!  ;D
