A young Halfords employee who was salivating over mine today reckons that mine (Rubens red) is the best colout they came in . 

Same colour as the 3.2 Elite Lizzie Zoom owns.

Perhaps you two could get together and become an item.

It emptied a load of coolant. For some reason the level warning nor the gauge told me anything was wrong, which meant I continued smoking a load of hot hatches half of its age, until I cooked it like a chicken.

Very little warning anything was amiss until I saw the smoke in the rear view mirror. By the time I was somewhere I could safely stop, it was absolute toast.

I would usually get the heads off, but just before it died, it had a really nasty rattle under light load… maybe caused by the oil getting so hot? Regardless, I suspect bottom end damage which is what’s making me think it’s not a viable fix ….

Very hard to get a working header tank sensor as I recall.  I thought it was the reed switch failing on mine but on checking 3 tanks it is usually the magnet that falls off the float.  So second hand tanks work when you turn them upside down but not when installed.  Fiddly to pull off the float, glue the magnet back on and refit but worth it to have a working sensor.

According to DVLA my car is blue,I'd call it grey the official GM name according to the colour code is Graphite II mica.Must have been a very popular colour as I've never seen another

My first Omega was the opposite, it looked blue, everyone thought it was blue, but it was actually listed as Magic Grey.

The original expansion tank on my 3.2 lasted around sixteen years in my ownership but in the last year of ownership I fitted two brand new tanks, purchased from a main dealer, and the float fell off both of them. Quite ironic, as I only purchased a new tank to make the engine bay look better.

I wanted a dark metallic blue one, but at the price I couldnt be fussy.
Total purchase price for both cars was £2460.

Since that picture was taken I had the unfortunate opportunity to have the front end “restored” with   a whole re spray back to the doors, due to a low speed shunt.  Just need the whole back end updated now, but without an accident involved!!
