I did Hillpers excellent Boot Mod (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90516.0) a while back to disable the boot dash button disable function. Well worth it - now I can open the boot with the keys in the ignition, even at 70mph if I want to :o.
One drawback though seems to be the interior light delay. Now at night I get in the car, start the engine and the interior light stays on while I drive off. Then after a few seconds it does fade off. I'm sure it used to go off much sooner. Is that right? If so I assume me cutting the key-in-lock wire as per Hillper has caused it. Is there a fix?
I don't want to have to go back to removing the keys just to open the boot. That was the biggest pain of me moving from a pre facelift to facelift mig. It was bad enough having to have the keys to hand or press a dash button when before on an unlocked car you could just lift the handle.

The mod is a brilliant one, but as you say, there is just one side effect. When I cut the red wire, I connected the cut ends to my old Trafficmaster switch. Now if I jump in & drive off with the interior light on, I just push the button & off it goes! Simple. :y

I did my own mod on my old 3.0 MV6 some time ago which involved some wiring changes and a addition of a relay, worked well without the Interior Light problem. Fairly sure I posted up the details a few years back, will have a search and see if I can find it.

Great idea, thanks, that will give me some joy to press it and not get the old "traffic master traffic master, license expired to renew call ....".
I presume I'll have to run 2 new wires from the cut to the switch itself.

Did the same mod years ago, its something you get used to. I completely forgot about the delay until little fatty up the road needed a lift for some reason and mentioned it

Please if you can. I might put a delay relay in and also set up the central locking to lock a couple of minutes after driving off while I'm at it - I recall there was something about this on the forum but can't locate it looking for 'central locking' and 'hijack', is there another term for it? It happens that I'm using an adjustable 10sec to 30 minute delay relay at the moment for something non car related and they only cost a fiver. Note to PRISM its not a bomb. ;)

I know what you mean, I disconnected my Trafficmaster switch as soon as I got the car. The wires were just long enough to reach the cut red wire though.

I have the later Elite and the button works fine with engine running or not. ;D ;D ;D

As does my early facelift CD,but presumably its had the mod carried out.I find it a bit anyone as I keep hitting the button with my knee,even while driving,and then open the boot. ::)

It has a 3 second delay built into mine so that don't happen. :y
