Having purchased a new alternator for my 3.2 I got round to fitting it today. I have been charging the battery all week ready to go in. All work done, looking good, connect the negative battery terminal and major sparks and then smoke from the area of the alternator! I've only gone and connected the battery in reverse polarity!

Quickly disconnected and turned battery round the right way. Car starts and runs, when I removed the key the battery light stayed on, started again then all sorts of lights on the dash, Speedo and rev counter going to zero then jumping up to a figure then back down to zero. Car now won't start. Battery has been removed.

Have I killed my car? I'm absolutely gutted!

Omega General Help / Steering idler question?

Hope someone can enlighten me regards the idler. I have replaced the wishbones, steering arms and drop links but I am still getting a little wobble between 50-70mph with a slightly vague feel. I'm now looking to change the steering idler and have seen the posts regarding the cheap ones that are best avoided. I have found that you can purchase the lemforder idler arm insert, just the silver bush part. My question is has anyone done this before, i.e changed just the bush out of the arm? I believe it is the original arm that is on the car and it seems like a more affordable way to change for a good bushing in the idler.

Omega General Help / Rear brakes?

I am needing to overhaul the rear brakes on my 3.2 saloon with the vented rear discs. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells all the parts? I'm needing discs, pads, pins and springs. While I have it apart is worth doing the shoes as well?

Omega General Help / Knocking noise from rear strut I think?

Looking for a bit of sage advice. I done the rear subframe bushes today thinking it would get rid of the knock I am experiencing. No such luck, but the bushes needed changed anyway.
I have had a search on the forum and gather that aftermarket shocks probably need the estate mounts. So it got me thinking, would it be possible to add M16 penny washers to the assembly on the arch part, to raise it up by 5mm or so? It makes sense in my head.

Hi all. I had my air-conditioning recharged about four weeks ago, it has suddenly stopped working. Took it back to the garage and they said there is still gas in it. Does anyone have any knowledge of where I should be looking? Fuses, relays, switches etc...

Hi all, was checking out some pages online and have seen a hack that can be done to the cdc unit wiring of this HU, that allows you to add a 3.5mm jack and therefore an mp3 player or similar. Before I go hacking into my unit and regretting this, can anyone tell me if they have done this, is it as simple as the guide on club-opel.com and what is the quality of the sound?

Omega General Help / Vacuum pipe from for under the plenum 3.2 v6

In the process of changing the plugs and when I removed the plenum the vacuum pipe from the for at the back just runs across the space under the plenum but is not connected to anything? What should this pipe be connected to?

I hope someone can help, I have a saloon with the ncdc2013 Bose system. I don't have the navigation cd, so it's redundant. The radio reception is currently dreadful. I know the rear screen acts as an aerial and the roof aerial is for the sat nav. Could I replace the roof aerial with a universal one for the radio as the sat nav is redundant? Could I run the new aerial to the back of the stereo or does it need anything else, amplified power for example.

Omega General Help / Fault code 0330

Hi all, took the car on a good run yesterday, car is running great but the spanner symbol would show now and again then disappear again. Pedal read this morning shows code 0330 and having checked the codes I believe it to be the knock sensor. Should I be concerned about this and what are the possible causes and fix. I am planning to give the car a full service next week so I could do or check anything then. Thanks in advance you lovely oofers!

Hi all, I'm hoping one of the more technically minded members might be able to help me. I thought my rear driver's door speaker was goosed, so I checked the plug to the speaker with a multimeter, nothing, I then noticed that the puddle light in the door is also not working, checked this and also no voltage but the window switch is working. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to a possible bad or undone connection.
