Fair enough, B6s were a waste on the Omega, so B8s are an extravagance, but not my car, so if it works for you... :y

Did you remember the cup washer below the top mount?
Yes , as mentioned we fitted the bigger Lotus spec cup washers that we make from S514 which makes them last longer.
B8s are fine as the car is destined for a bit of track work...once the brakes are up to scratch!!
if it was just for the road I may revert to some adjustable Konis which can be backed right off for comfort and control.
It's all an extravagance, if I was sensible I'd be renting an econobox on PCP :y

That's an interesting definition of sensible  ;D

Re the cup washers, just double checking, as they're easily overlooked because you can't see them... That's to say the top one under the nut is obvious but the lower one can rust  to the shock rod and get left behind, especially if you're reusing the old hardware  ;)

Got it very dirty in a muddy field.

I knew when I parked it, it was going to be "interesting" to move it later, which was compounded by white van man parking rizzla distance next to me whilst I was away, limiting options, and essentially having to have it on full lock, reverse, uphill.

It came out fairly easily, probably only half a dozen rocks forward and backwards, but NSF did break traction a few times, flinging mud all over it, and more importantly, all over white van ;D

That's about the only way you'll get the Battlebus to break traction ;D

Oh I don't know. In a fit of anger several weeks ago, I managed to wheelspin the length of the top high street.  I was that surprised, I just kept my foot buried, laughing like an impetulant youth.

Don't know, the 2.2DTi Omega I had could easily spin it's wheels, I'm guessing the bus is the 2.0DTi and obviously the engine weight is over the driven wheels so probably not as easy.  ;D

Shite tyres* is the key ;D

*Goodyear EfficientGrip IIRC.  A very predictable tyre, just not that performant.  Great fun mind :)

I think the Battlebus left the factory with (an optimistic) 100 gee-gees.

After 20 years, most of them have died.  I reckon my old 1.2L Nova was quicker (though significantly lighter). I bet DTM knows off the top of his head how many neddies that had from the factory.

Oddly I actually miss the old 2.2DTi Elite Saloon I had, I think it was because it had such a narrow 'on the turbo' power band that you just thrashed it everywhere  :-X I can't say the same for Mrs VXL's old 2.2DTi Estate, it just felt lethargic in comparison.

Discovered the battlebus's driver seat has a broken backrest.

Which leaves a dilemma, its due an MOT in about 3 weeks.  Find a replacement seat or a replacement car.

The Mondeo was looking a bit sorry for itself, so it's Christmas present was the £8.49 Platinum programme at the local car wash!  :)
