Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Delco cdr500e
« on: 02 December 2010, 10:03:21 »
Morning all
Hi. Bought an omega with a Delco CDR500(E) head unit. First thing i noticed was the detachable front panel wouldn't stay on one side so put some blue tack on to secure it. When the ignition is turned on the light behind the volume control button comes on code isn't asked for on display unit. Have the 4 number security code on the unit but don't know how to enter it as no manuals. Am i correct in thinking i have to press nos. 3 & 5 to enter the code? Do i need a new front panel or could the fuse need replacing? So many questions, so many answers!!  :-/ :-/ Cheers  :y

Omega General Help / Help needed please
« on: 03 December 2010, 20:14:38 »
Anyone out there with knowledge of 2.0i facelift autos?
Car has gone into limp mode & Tech2 has come up showing autobox sensor!
Car drives ok then goes into limp mode. When the ignition is turned off then on again autobox is fine then after a few miles goes into limp mode!
Is it a big job to change the sensor, how long does it take & anyone know cost of sensor?
All help much appreciated!
Andy

Omega General Help / Front o/s door solenoid??
« on: 29 May 2010, 09:47:44 »
After all the problems i've had & now fixed, a new problem has now emerged! The font o/s door pin won't budge - can use the central locking which opens all 3 doors but then i have to use the key to open drivers door but the pin won't pop up although the door opens! To lock the doors, i have to use the key manually as 3 doors engage shut but immediately the pins pop back up  >:(

Don't know if its the motor or solenoid or maybe the motor  is the solenoid  :-/ (i'mconfused.com!!)

Can anyone tell me how to fix it & if it's a tricky job for a novice  :-?

Oh joy of joys!! Oh thankyou God!! My misfire has gone to the cemetery & is dead & buried!!  :y :y :y

For all you poor soles, especially me old mucker John Lewis, who have had to endear my woes concerning my everlasting misfire of ''2'' bloody months, i am glad, no exstatic, to announce that i've been to the 'doctor' and have now been given a clean(ish) bill of health  :) :) :)

The original dis pack was put back onto my mig & with the new spark plugs & ebay(?) leads i'm now back in the world of motoring  :y

The 'only' problem i have now is that the cats are foocked as pointed out by Captain Zok back at Easter BUT as my wallet is totally & utterly empty & my MOT isn't due till March 2011 i'm really not that bothered so there  :P

John, try a dis pack cos u might, just might, solve the same problem as me  :)

According to the advise of MarksDTM the following was written -
'A crude method for testing your DIS pack is to unplug the knock sensor and run the engine, the retarded timing will result in a higher voltage being required to ignite the fuel and hence a weak DIS pack will often miss fire'
Does anyone know if BOTH sensors have to be unplugged or will just one suffice  :-?

Omega General Help / HT Leads/Spark Plugs fitting??
« on: 16 May 2010, 08:17:07 »
Could some-one please tell me in what order the HT leads go on the spark plugs  for my V6 :-/

I know that the back o/s is no. 6 but the new HT leads that have been fitted came without numbers on so when i swop the dis/coil pack (thankfully have nos. on!!) i need to know which leads to put on pack  :o

Omega General Help / Dis/Coil Pack
« on: 15 May 2010, 19:00:02 »
Am i right in thinking that if i've got a faulty dis/coil pack it WON'T show up on a paper clip test?
For those of u that havn't been following my saga of a misfiring/stuttering/running rough V6, after replacing & testing most things that could be the cause, the only thing that hasn't been checked is the used coil pack bought by the previous owner   ::) but i still have the original which will also be tested

Can the pack be tested whilst on the car or does it have to be taken off  :-/

If the packs ok the final test to be done is with a Tech 2 to test the injector cut off
Failing all this i'll have to sell it as spares & repairs on ebay cos its the elite model with a good set of 17'' alloys & new rear tyres (any idea what i should put it in for as its got a 10mth MOT & taxed till beg Sept?)

The EGR was unscrewed & i've blanked it off, re-plugged it & its still running rough/stuttering/misfiring!
Could the egr valve be knackered & how would i know?
All the brand new ht leads are on the dis pack in the correct order & fully attached.
i've also pointed out that when the new plugs were taken off individually there were only 2 that made the revs dramatically change whilst the others hardly made a difference when taken off - what could this point to   :-/
PLEASE HELP    :'( :'( :'(

Omega General Help / Cleaning the EGR?
« on: 08 May 2010, 17:16:06 »

Have taken it off but can't dismantle to give it a good clean  >:(
Any suggestions PLEASE  :'(

Omega General Help / EGR valve malfunction?
« on: 08 May 2010, 18:25:38 »
Disconnected plug from egr unit & the revs stayed the same  :o
Does this mean that the units knackered & needs replacing which is why the engines stuttering/misfiring/running roughly when i'm driving?
Also when 4 of the spark plugs are taken out individually there's hardly any difference in engine note but when no. 6 is taken out the engine stalls  :o
ps. for those lucky enough not to have read any of my previous threads i've already done the following -:
changed dis pack
changed spark plugs
changed ht leads
did a compression test
tested the maf sensor
I've had loads of omegas in the past but never had the problems i'm suffering with now with this one  >:( :( :o :-/ :'(

Omega General Help / Exhaust Manifold Gasket
« on: 04 May 2010, 09:19:50 »
Morning all  :)
Have posted a few times about my facelift 2.5 elite with a misfire.
Just to re-cap -:
NOTHING showing on paper clip test or Tech 2
Coil pack replaced
Cam shaft sensor replaced (mechanic said fault code shown on tech 2 BUT didn't realise that the engine had to be running for it to clear!)
New spark plugs replaced
New HT Leads replaced (correctly fitted onto coil pack & no leads loose)
New fuel filter fitted
Compression test done y/day but nothing found!
Have now been advised that it could well be that the Exhaust Manifold Gasket could be the problem OR injectors (although 2 lots of cleaner where put in a couple of months ago when the problem first happened).
The exhaust does sound as if its blowing & i just wanted to ask anyone out there if they think that this could well be the cause of the bad misfire & if so is it an expensive job to do (i know the gaskets are only a few quid on ebay) labour wise?
I'm at the end of my tether with this & it's cost me a small fortune up to know which has completely made me skint!! :'(
PLEASE HELP!!!! :( :( :(

Omega General Help / What have i unplugged ??!!??
« on: 04 May 2010, 14:47:14 »
I've got a thread going on 'Exhaust Manifold Gasket' as my engine is misfiring/stuttering.
Been suggested on here to unplug the MAF sensor & hopefully the misfiring might disappear!
Seen somewhere on this site that it's situated on the big pipe coming out of the air box & sits 2nd down.
So i unpluged it but couldn't start the engine until i plugged it back in - have i found the MAF sensor or something else??  :o :o :o
