« on: 07 February 2020, 20:06:55 »

as ive got an oil leak somewhere at back of camcover area i noticed some oil patch just further back and lower on a tin type plate and when driving i noticed when idling in traffic the engine revs slightly up to 1000rpm for 3 or 4 seconds then you get the burnt oil smell and odd puff of smoke from the side of bonnet.it goes away when driving after a few minutes.cant fathom it.cheers

New genuine camcover gaskets, breather clean and check the  rubber flap-valve bung at the bottom of the pollen filter housing - it's supposed to close when not draining rainwater to prevent smells entering the cabin.
Just in case you think that I am super-clever, that was a distillation of knowledge garnered from the wise owls on here, for which I am grateful and happy to pass on.
