Elite door mirrors with memory
« on: 17 March 2020, 15:58:28 »

Hi all, I have a 2002 elite of which a bit and run driver obliterated the drivers side mirror. All that is left is the metal frame and motor housing. I have one from my scrapped CD model and was wondering if I swapped the loom inside the mirror with the 9-pin loom from the elite one, would the memory work. Has anyone tried this.

Fit the other one and call it done.

Unless you're bored of course ;)

Isn't the Elite with memory mirrors & seat different from lesser models?  :-\

Plug is the same, along with most of the wiring. Memory is only two or three extra plugs ;)

If original Elite loom is still attached to the mirror arm and serviceable, then fine, but if not, swapping all the casing etc over is a bit of a ball ache compared to three screws to swap the assemblies...

 :y

I swapped the loom over on the R Class mirror I bought as a replacement because the 'new one' had a standard mirror as mine originally had a dimming mirror (which I believe are silly money)

The actual mech is different between Elite and non memory models.  If you want to retain memory, you need to use an Elite mechanism and the Elite mirror wiring.

If it's salvageable  ;)

Also bear in mind that some mirrors sold by those in Euro land may have folding as well, and aren't compatible  ;)

The mech being the motor assembly and loom, not the arm itself  ;)
