Title: England football tonight.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 22 June 2021, 15:05:55
I'm not a rabid fan, and I'll only tune in after the humiliation of taking the knee is over and the game has started.

England have a player called Mason Mount. Is this his real name?.......sounds like the sort of name given to a seventies porn actor with a 14 inch dick. ;D

And England probably wont be far behind them. They flatter only to deceive, then break fans hearts.
They really needed a draw rather than a win last night. Probably wont make the quarter finals now.

Perversely I do but only every two years. When England gets knocked out, I then support Spain till they get knocked out. Then I forget about it all for another two years.

The German team is pretty poor, and were lucky to make it through.

Again, not England's best performance, a couple of 10 minute stints of dominance, but I think the Germans had the most possession.

But a win is a win, and I'll take that!

I imagine that when England got the ball they wasted spent a lot of time passing it about in their own half, passed it back to the goalie a few times and got a couple of lucky breaks?  :D

No, England were the better team, and fully deserved to win. Germany were disappointing.

Captain Kane looked very fetching and attractive with his rainbow arm band. Don't forget to wear it in Qatar, Harry, where such people really are oppressed.

Tell us about it. International travel is a hot potato. Spanish kids have been to Mallorca and spread covid. They are isolating now. Notwithstanding the last lot of figures showed Balearics as safer than mainland.

International travel, especially from a Delta variant hotspot country like UK, is currently being kicked around in the EU. Germany and France ( who themselves are heading for a fourth wave, are expecting any uk visitors to isolate on arrival. Ditto Italy. Germany wants the EU to have harmonious rules on isolation. Now Spain and Greece, desperate for UK tourists, have said you can come with tests or double jabbed. No isolation requirement. Behind the scenes Brussels is pressurising Spain with turning the tap off on the 70 billion recovery fund we so desperately need. No doubt the tap will get turned back on when we agree to isolation. Hence the veiled reference to Merkel .

The schengen agreement on free travel was a dark joke a few months back with Germans and French living it up here in Spain while we residents couldn’t find  leave our province or for a few weeks even leave our municipality.

Anyway lets see if the mainland Costas open up to uk in what is left of summer.

True, but 20 minute circuits do that without burning anything like the fuel. Not to mention the time and cost of taking them in and out of storage. On an A320ish, that's 2 hangar inputs each time plus any rectification work.

England 3-0 up after 50 minutes. They seem to be coming into their stride at the right time, rather than the usual - promising start and then slide downhill.  :)

Call me a doom monger, but....

I remember the elation when we beat Holland 4-1 in Euro 96. Then a cagey 0-0 against Spain and we won on penalties. The Danes may not be full of megastars, but they are playing as a team, and I think will be much tougher opponents than Ukraine who seemed to lose all hope once they were 2-0 down. I can see this one going to penalties as well.

In the other half of the draw, Italy vs Spain looks like either being a stale mate, or a 5-4 thriller. To me Italy have looked the best side in the competition so far and at times almost as dominant as the early 70's Brazil. However, like fine wines, they haven't proved they can travel well yet. Not really been convinced by Spain.

So for me, it's 0-0 England-Denmark, England going through on penalties. And Italy beating Spain by the odd goal in a high scoring game (3-2, 4-3 that sort of thing).

Obviously I know my stuff being a Yeovil Town fan ;D :D

I revisited this post in order to give you the  :P :P but, reading it again, you've pretty much covered every base. Stalemate, so that could be 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 etc. You've also covered 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 etc. So it looks like no one could refuse you a pressie  ;D

You cynic  ::)

Ultimatley I think the most entertaining team went through last night. Spain didn't play anywhere close to as physically as I thought they would (I was expecting at least one sending off), and they almost matched Italy for skill. If only they had someone to put the ball in the back of the net they probably should have won 3 -1 in 90 minutes.

I'm still not convinced England can beat Denmark in 90 minutes. And if England do go through I don't think they'll beat Italy. Hope I'm wrong.

I see the same Neanderthals shone a laser into Schmeichel's eyes as England's penalty was taken.
So...an own goal and a penalty that wasn't a penalty. Watch out, Italy.

Mmm. I hope they get the git that shone a laser on the goalies face for that penalty kick. England to face charges? What with that and the disrespectful fireworks during the Danish national anthem, maybe we ought to forfeit the game or at least offer to play it again.

Puts a blight on the whole game, I profess to know very little about football but it is obvious that this team works well together I watched the game & enjoyed it, certainly hope that they find the idiot who shone the laser and that he /she is dealt with accordingly.
