He probably knows that omegas in these parts are considered too dear at £1000. ;D

Indeed, and it's not any old Omega. The current bid wouldn't buy the drive train.

If I had plenty of spare cash, I would love to own it, just for the traffic lights giggles. 8) :)

That's the problem, if he wants too much, he's competing against all kinds of big, powerful cars that came from the factory that way.
-
It's a six hundred ish bhp Monaro estate.
Which is nice 8)
-
A small market for such cars, but I would imagine the right person will pay strong money for it.
Someone as daft as me, but with a much healthier bank balance. ;D

No, it's a six hundred ish bhp omega estate.

It looks like it, but it is running on Monaro sub frames so it drives like a Monaro. ;)

Well, it seemed adequate to me. :y

Well done Dave, you've just blown his Reg no. ;D

When did you last drive it? The Monaro front end was fitted after that Brackley meet ;)
Much improved over the Omega subframe :y

I keep finding myself browsing the sales sites looking at Holden V8s. Generally the V8s are top money or slammed or sheds (or all 3 in some cases)
This one looks unmolested https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/holden/commodore/listing/3121880971 (https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/holden/commodore/listing/3121880971) for about £6,000

Nice :y
You can get them with the 3.6 or the V8, but I believe that the V8 had a 4x4 option.
Essentially it's the Commodore Wagon on 4x4 Ute running gear.
Scratches chin as to what a blown 4x4 Monaro would be like... 🤔

Now showing my ignorance perhaps, but I have to ask................................
What does Ls1 mean/refer to please?
I have looked at the lovely Omega estate, but just don't get it ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

I want one for my Omega!! ;D ;D ;)

There's about £25k of parts and time in doing the conversion.
So the only question is do you actually want one or do you merely like the idea?

Both!!
But I need £25k first, and then if I had that I would have my current miggy completely overhauled with engine and bodywork fully restored to as new condition...................but I am dreaming of course!!! ;D ;D ;D ;)

So, as Stemo so succinctly pointed out, is why it wasn't posted for sale on here. :-X

Oh yes, I understand that ;)

It's at just over ten grand atm, could be a rush of bids towards the end of the auction. (Then, because it's eBay, the horse trading will start)
-
Time will tell... But I would be very surprised if the reserve gets met...

Even if it does, there's no guarantee they'll come through. But hey ho, Robsey knows the game.

Tru dat ;)

Cash on collection is a bit iffy for that amount, too.

It doesn't have to have anything to do with PayPal, bank transfer or cheque would do fine. But I don't want to argue about what is basically a personal preference, I just mentioned it in passing.

Biggest issue at moment with shipping from the Colonies, is Box prices have gone thro the roof, be about £5-8k now for a box from down under, unless you get it surface transported, (put in a regular cargo boat).
-
RoRo looks to be pretty reasonable... There should be plenty of capacity now that now cars are built there any more :'(
-
That's a bit more like it...
-
Looks like there is at least 1 lottery winner out there, provided it's a genuine bid.

TBH, if you wanted that, or a similar setup, that car is probably still one of the cheapest ways of going about it, even if you took the drivetrain off and then threw the omega it was attached to in the bin. Not that I'm suggesting anyone should, it looks a nicely done conversion. :y

The cost of shipping has doubled+ Some shippers are blaming the Evergreen/Suez incident, and the Chinese have put shipping costs up,.

It never made reserve

A search this morning suggested around a couple of grand for the RoRo. Australia no longer exports vehicles, so there's spare capacity. ;)

That isn't bad, but I wouldn't like the +30% VAT and import duty that you'd have to pay on the car cost. You'd have to really want one I reckon, as you're up to this kind of money (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010185144567?atmobcid=soc3)by the time you've faffed about.
I know which I'd rather blow £10k on. :y

Wow no sale for 19.500 seems a lot of cash to turn down for an omega but I’ve benefited seen it/been in it👍

£10k?
You can't buy a working Monaro for £10k...
That E500 is a gamble being an early M273... Chain idler pulley is made of cheese, and it's bang on the mileage for it ;)
Nice though 8)

Reading that, it's one to avoid on several fronts.

Or you could buy one with the CDI engines where you have to replace the bonnet when an injector fails....

I'd heard of the injectors leaking and gumming up (black death I think they call it ::)). But not them letting go completely :o
