Omega General Help / Re: AC compressor
« on: 13 July 2022, 21:32:41 »
High pressure hose stays warm even when ac compressor is running, condenser and dryer were replaced two years ago, I've read here there are cases of expansion valve fail but I can't seem to find any "how to" anywhere. It's a shame, because it's a major dashboard out job. Even on LHD Omegas

The expansion valve can be removed on  rhd by removing heater fan glove box, airbag, and lots of swearing,

Electrically speaking the sensors are identical.

The actual difference is the length of the wire due to the gearbox shape. :y

This.

Or if you don't mind fiddling on with the wires you can get Bosch generic pnes that have an adapater plug to the GM worong :y

 This^^^^^ as it's cheaper
And you can also extend the wires if you move the sensors when fitting 3.0L downpipes, or modify the 2.6 ones

It's a tooth out on 1&2. That's probably too much to correct both banks back to timed without starting from scratch: wind the crank back 60°, remove the belt, set all four cams to spot-on, install their locks and turn the crank back so the crank lock fits. Then replace the pulleys with bearing, fit the new belt and follow the timing procedure as many times as necessary until everything is perfectly timed.

If you're not prepared, or able, to do the detail work this requires then you shouldn't be messing with timing belts on any engine
  THIS ^^^^^^^^^

  Words of wisdom, follow them

There must be a few of you old codgers suffering from high blood pressure. Have you been to the docs and has anyone been prescribed Amplodine?
I took it for a couple of weeks and I've had to stop because of the side effects. Thought I might try and push through until I found this patient forum. People should be made aware of what these drugs actually do, instead of being left to read the patient information leaflet. FFS, one of the rare side effects is heart attack  >:(

Well, if you will insist on going to see doctors, they will give you worrying news and strange tablets that make you feel odd.
This is why I dont go.
I could have all kinds of things wrong with me (on top of the obvious ones I know about) but I live in ignorant bliss.  :)

I try and follow this philosophy as best I can. I rarely see the quack. The last time I did he shoved a large  :o down my throat I watched the whole episode on a large television whilst trying not to gag. :)

Didn't know you made special videos Me Lud. Especially for the home team.

Are fans switching on when air-con is on.   There's an expansion valve up behind the glove box,, very rare they fail.

If you put an pfl auto radiator in,using the in built cooler, will run about 5' cooler,  3.2 runs slightly warmer than 3.0L..

Blow the radiator fins out, from the back forward, if still warm change the thermostat, still runs warm, might be a blockage, check rad gets warm all over.

Should come with a small satchel of oil, when you go to get it reggased, the Dalek will add the correct amount of pag about 50-80ml, and 950ish of refrigerant.

Re-use old one, and put some silicone on the mating face's.

You can't suggest that! It will downgrade several GM Original Parts Supply VirginsTM and where would we be then?

Worse than that, it ought to work

Well he could use GM black goo, that wouldn't invalidate the warranty...
