General Discussion Area / Re: Prison Break

Having delivered to various "High security" establishments, Prison are not very throug with vehicles leaving,"they will be now"   Familiarity breeds contempt, will find the bidfoods goes there every day, same driver, sees certain staff members every day. Possibly gets a cup of tea from kitchen..  It's sometimes harder to get in and out of discount superstores than Military bases..

Watched coolant dripping from the back of the engine on the Omega  :(
probably the HBV (new one in the spares hoard  ;D) ,
I need it to cool off before i strip the scuttle tray to actually know .
sods law ,the spare astra my brother has  ::)
I serviced and MOTed his astra last weekend (passed, no advisories)  8)
he'd not returned the spare astra and took his dirty diesel astra estate back  ::)
not that i want to slum it in an astra anyway  :D

Hbv can be changed without removing the scuttle...

Pardon?  ;D

I think BigGriff recently acquired an Omega and either doesn't have the room at Griff Towers for another or Mrs BigGriff says NO!   ;D

Yes I have, but but, can never have enough things to not do House/Garden type stuff.

Is it repairable?

This is a different question to being written off or beyond repair.

Insurance will write it off, ass the work on retail for all parts, also lots of Omega is NLS, you have to fight to keep write offs, that's why you never let them take the car to a "repairer" always have it recovered to your home address ..

Clean the selector switch, If your going to change fluid, iirc including dropping sumps, blowing out cooler, and cleaning filters,(yes you can clean them,) it takes 8L, of fluid, I used  Shell spirax,(formally Donax) it's a HD dex3/4 transmission fluid for Commercial/Tractors.

Failing that there's a thrust washer that breaks, there is a guide on replacement.
