Dont forget their gallons are smaller than ours. Still cheap as chips compared to the UK though.
It used to be the case that the average tank over there only did 15mpg, don't know if that's still the case.
Apart from the gas guzzlers that some Americans still drive, the majority of cars are Japanese, European, or other ‘economy’ examples. In 1990 there were still plenty of big engined American automobiles to choose from, in 1998 we even hired a 5.5 litre Ford Crown Victoria - a brilliant sedan, but when I visited in 2010 we were so disappointed. Toyotas, Mercs, BMW’s and other European type engined cars were everywhere. Even the GM, Dodge and other home built vehicles had economy type engines, but were vastly out numbered by ‘our type of car”.Muscle cars still exist, but in far fewer numbers than back in the day!
Gone had the good old days of true American automobile motoring.
