SSD card.....working or not?
« on: 28 July 2021, 13:49:13 »

We are trying to find out if the 256GB SSD from my old HP laptop is still working.

I have fitted it to an external SSD hard disk box to USB (£9.99 from Amazon) in an attempt to transfer the data to Mrs Opti's computer.

Her laptop does not to seem to recognise it. :-\

Perhaps a shagged SSD card was the problem my old computer failed to bootup/switch on.

Anyone?

So why is it not recognised by the other laptop?

My bad.

It's not being recognised by either laptop. :-\

On the plus side, if the SSD is 'donald -ducked' I may be bale to get my old PC going again if I buy another SSD. :y

Every cloud. :)

It's pitiful when you have to fill a whole thread on your own. Take the hint  ;D

If you had been walking the whippet like a responsible owner you wouldn't have had time to comment.

I may call the RSPCA 'whippet police' on you. :)

I have used two free/open source programmes to recover lost photos from memory cards. They also work on disk drives.

https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4171-testdisk.html

Testdisk works on the drive to try and fix it. If Testdisk can't fix the drive then Photorec grabs all the files it can find so you can recover most of your pictures of fluffy kittens (or whatever. )

Thanks, Mr H. :y

We have ordered new SSD from Amazon prime. If it turns out that it is not the problem I can always send it back. :y
