Not at all, but thanks to our free stuff policies, (which incidentally is one of the things wrong domestically), people will quite merrily head here crossing through several other equally pleasant* countries.

Stopping at the first safe place would make more sense both culturally and physically.

Put another way, you wouldn't walk all the way to Persia if Sheppy got a bit lively.

*pleasant is a relative term, but Turkey is probably better than Syria. And we're not talking about people without means. £3,000 would get you a suite on a Cunard mini cruise from Zeebrugge to Southampton.

No, people largely only come here for what they can get, not what they contribute, and the further they travel the more 'baggage' they bring with them

There is a converse.

You cant do much about warming and lack of rainfall. For everywhere that has had disastrous rain there are loads of places having drought and increased temperatures. Not enough time or inclination to expand on it here. Two current examples are the drought in Iran and the warming in Siberia and Alaska where permafrost is thawing with obvious threat to foundations of buildings and pipelines.

If the world was suffering from global cooling, I suspect there would be more interest. Global warming? Most folk in developed countries live in cooler climes. Bit of warming ? Bring it on!

We've certainly cooled rapidly in the last couple of weeks and my prediction is an overall cooling trajectory for the next few months.

Tell that to the Greeks who are experiencing the worst heat since something like 1987. 

Like I said earlier it depends on where in the world you are. Temperate Britain isn’t really a good base to experience the extremes other countries are experiencing.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. How many of the current fires that have suddenly popped up in the eastern Med started naturally?

The reason Lundun got flooded last week wasn't because it rained heavily, but because no one has bothered to clean the drains out.

In the grand scheme of things a week long hot spell isn't exceptional... it's currently 45° at Athens Airport, which given the expanse of concrete and the fact that July and August are their hottest months by some margin, could be considered uncommon, but not extremely so.
