Hi while changing a bulb i noticed what looks to be a microphone in the center of the front interior light
first question is Is it?
second if it is can it be used insted of the nokia one with my hands free kit?
-
Yes, and probably yes or fit your nokia one in there.
Chris.
-
Its definitely a MIC with the phone kit (if you still have the phone dock).
But if you want to use another phone/handsfree kit, then it will most prob come with a MIC? :y
-
the nokia one i have is way to big to fit and the one fitted to the car has 4 wires i think so unsure which wires to use any ideas??

4wires? loose or connected to the rear of the dock!
-
Dock?? the mic has a multi plug affair with i am sure 4 thin wires plugged in to it no other signs of a phone ever being in the car
-
AFAIK, the wires should lead to a unit behind the glovebox, the 4wires coming out from that unit:
1-mic 2-speaker (phone brand) 3-power 4-mute(stereo)
Just a thought for flexibility you can look into bluetooth car kits? (iv got a nookia ck-7w) :y
-
my hands free is a ck7w also just thought if i could i would use the factory fitted and hidden away mic
-
Just realised for some reason i didnt end up using the original mic (didnt fit or something) so ended up using the mic that came with the CK-7w!
-
yeah the mic for the nokia kit has a jack plug connection i was thinking of chopping and soldering just hopeing some one had done it before
-
oh sorry, i didnt go through that *chopping* route unfortunately! :y :y
-
no probs cheers for the help might give me something to work on
-
Facelift mics can be used with Nokia carkits - simply use the prewiring plug taped above glovebox.
Mics fitted to CCRT700 equipped cars cannot be used with Nokia kits
-
Thank you TB will have a look in the morning if i get the chance
-
:question :question :( :-? I didnt find such wiring in mine, unless it was used and taken out in the past :'( :-/ Lucky You TC

Retail 3.2 would have had either phone prewiring, or have a Telematics unit.

it did have a phone kit on it, but the wires you mentioned below the glovebox didnt find them :(
Hence had to go use the new kits mic. ;)

so will this plug need altering or is it a jack plug? :-?

If not used the prewiring will still be taped up with masking tape to the loom tray above the glovebox.

You'll need an Autolead / Telemute lead 06-109B to interface with the prewiring.
-
That lead is listed for a saab on the dnd website is that right?
-
Yep!
Saabs of that era were a GM product ;)
-
Which years of Omega and which head units was the 06-109B compatable with, and I`ll update my website details, as seems to cause a bit of confusion as I only currently have Saab listed
:-?
-
Hi I have just took glove box out and found what i think is the right loom and plug the only way i can describe the plug is its similar to the ones on the mid. is this the right one?
-
Yes that's the one.

All of the ones with phone prewiring (So that's saloons with a twig on the roof (1/4 Wave colinear) and estates which have two or three coax's feeding the base.
NB. Bose equipped cars are supposed to have the matching transformers installed as well.
-
Great thank for your help will order the lead now from daves website. Just to clarify tho this will do both speakers and mic wont it so the only thin i will have to mount is the push button thing?
-

I think you may be right. I bought the 06-109B lead from DaveDND and it seemed to work both with or without the Autoleads matching transformer (so I took it out again and left it in the box).
FWIW I tried using the interior light mic and couldn't get any life out of it so I fitted the mic that came with my Nokia CK7W. I ran the lead up behind the plastic trim on the A pillar and the velcro on the back of the mic hangs onto the headlining material like sh1t to a blanket quite securely.

As VXL V6 says, all those that are prewired - most higher spec ones are
-
old i know now but just got the lead from dnd and connected my nokia kit up and factory fit mic not playing as other posters have said :-/. any ideas???
-
Can you pop the MIC out and post up the part no?
-
I will take it out today and post part number as soon as i can cheers
-
Hi sorry it took a while to get the time to do it but the part number is 24 423 920 if that helps?
-
Yep, that's the Microphone for Telematics not third party phone kits. I'm not sure of the part number (No access to the information at the moment) however someone hopefully can confirm the correct part no.
-
Is it the same one from ccrt series radios, as I have one in the garage I think...
-
I seem to recall the Telematics one has the part number on a green sticker and the other type has the part number on a orange sticker.
-
this one has a green sticker any idea why it wouldnt work???
-
sorry do i need an orange sticker one?

I didn't fit my transformers that came from Dave with the Saab lead, seemed to make no audible difference so I didn't bother- have since used them on something completly different!
As for it not working, mine didn't work first time either, unplugged/plugged a few times & was fine, think the multipin wasn't seated correctly.
Mine didn't come with the mic (no idea why as the rest of the cabling was there), am debating stripping the Nokia mic out of it's shell to fit in the light as I've run it up next to the int. light anyway, along with the display (ck-15w)
