General Discussion Area / Thank God for Trump
« on: 10 July 2019, 23:20:19 »
His cleaning of the swamp has led to Epstein being arrested and, if the online suggestions are to be believed, some serious evil is about to be uncovered.

If HRC had been elected POTUS, the light would never have shone upon the wickedness.

Some very uncomfortable things lie ahead, I believe.

Omega General Help / Power sounder
« on: 22 June 2018, 14:40:57 »
I'm without my remote fob for a few days (waiting for a new PCB). In the meantime, I am locking/inlocking manually with the key in the door. Is there an way easily to TEMPORARILY disable the power sounder as it goes off every time I return to the car before starting the engine.

I have a couple of early starts this weekend and don't really want to annoy the neighbours!  :-[

Omega General Help / Auto solenoid
« on: 20 June 2018, 16:56:39 »
Irrespective of other issues concerning my crank sensor, I intend to have my auto box filter and ATF both renewed, as the car has done nearly 70k miles.

I thought it might be useful to have the 2/3 solenoid exchanged at the same time (should be straightforward once the sump is off).

Unfortunately, I can't source one. Sussex Auto Parts tell me it's a BMW 4L30E box and the part number is 24337537062. Everywhere I look it seems to be unavailable.

Any friendly advice warmly welcomed. :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Fools rush in...

My light switch is really rather manky so, when I saw a brand new OEM switch on offer at a very reasonable price, I jumped in.

Got it wrong.  :-[ :-[

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bulb trouble
« on: 23 May 2018, 14:36:49 »
Tarting up the Omega, I decided to get some OSRAM Night Breaker bulbs (as recommended by Tunnie!!).

I made sure that i entered my reg number and both the OSRAM site and Amazon said I need the H7 bulbs – which I bought (along with HB4 for full beam).

The H7 bulbs appear to be too fat and they have two connections, not the one on the existing.  ???

Managed to break the clear plastic box they came in, but will try to send them back. Grrrr.  >:(

Omega General Help / New car mats
« on: 22 May 2018, 19:34:42 »
Looking to buy some new car mats.

When I get them, I can clip the front ones in place, but am short of a couple of clips for the rears. Tried for over an hour to find matching ones (round with straight screwdriver slot in top – were OEM from dealer), but no luck. Do the universal ones work OK?  ???

Omega General Help / Part number help
« on: 22 May 2018, 12:46:27 »
I have just noticed that I have a plastic vent missing from my nearside front bumper below the foglight. Anyone know the part number or description?

Also, I have found two new oil filters with the GM part number of 9192425. They could be from SWMBO's long gone Corsa...or maybe I did a bulk buy for my Omega and forgot...  ::)

Omega General Help / 2.6 gearbox problem solved!
« on: 02 May 2018, 16:33:28 »
Had many limp home situations caused by the autobox not wanting to change up, then doing so like a kicked mule and giving me the management light. Always had to stop, turn off and reset before it would all come back to normal. This began to occur practically every journey.

I even went to have the fault codes printed out:
P0730 Incorrect gear ratio, and
P1625 Controller voltage switch signal too low.

Frankly, I got sick of driving the car and began looking at spending shed loads on a new car. One evening in March, I desperately needed to use the car, but it would not start at all. Called the AA and got a superb mechanic. He diagnosed a crank sensor and, ahem, agreed to fit the spare I had (don't tell anyone!).

Bottom line is that the car now starts and drives beautifully and the gearbox behaves perfectly, even in situations previously know to have prompted the management light issue.

Who'd have thunk it? ??? ???

My Omega's a keeper now.  :y :y

General Discussion Area / An exercise in obfuscation
« on: 30 January 2017, 10:25:44 »
BBC news this morning regarding the terror attack in Canada:

"We condemn this terrorist attack on Muslims in a centre of worship and refuge," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement.
"Muslim-Canadians are an important part of our national fabric, and these senseless acts have no place in our communities, cities and country."
In June last year the same mosque was the target of an Islamophobic incident when a pig's head was left in front of the building, with a card saying "bonne appetit".

You have the BBC's implied message: Islamaphobia to blame. You nasty right-wingers.

The truth?

Two attackers of #Québec #MosqueShooting are #Syria refugees Wassim Boughadou (L) & Tarek Sakr (R)  ::) ::)

I hate Biased BBC news with a passion. Mind you, Sky's not much better.

I just want plain, unvarnished, truthful reporting. Is that too much to ask?

General Discussion Area / Channel 4 News gets caught out
« on: 04 November 2016, 20:43:34 »
https://twitter.com/newgreatgame/status/794616360764575744

Kid in Aleppo says, according to the subtitles, "We will not leave".

Unfortunately for Channel 4, Arab speakers have noted that he actually said "They are all infidels" (presumably aimed at the government forces.

Can we believe anything the news media tell us?  >:(
