MOT booked this morning....passed with no advisories for the 8th straight year on the trot...even the MOT man commented that he rarely sees a car each year without anything to comment on.
Big word of Thanks again to ...NickW...looking after the welding work a few months ago now :y :y :y

Nicely done :y

Congratulations on the MOT pass :)
my 2003 has failed MOT twice in its lifetime
Nearside Stop lamp not working once 2014 ::)
and exhaust rotted in 2007 ,which seems very odd at just 4 years old :o
-
Before my ownership MOT history was 3 fails ,once on wishbone bushes and 2 worn tyres, then exhaust leaking and a damaged number plate,so hardly serious concerns ,that being part of the reason I originally bought it as it seemed to of been cared for.
The recent pass has now also stopped me looking at possible replacements ,well for another year anyway ;D

indeed
stick to the devil you know
the extra running costs of an Omega due to it's poor MPG can be offset against depreciation of something "newer" with better MPG in my opinion :)

Congratulations.! My many Omegas failed eventually on rusty sills and emissions.
I think many testers fail to use their discretion sensibly, and fail cars on minor items which should only be advised (advisories), and some testers who hate to let a car through without comment at all. I have known cars with half a dozen advisories one year pass the following year without comment elsewhere.

Happy days :y :y

Nice one :y
There's been quite a few member's Omegas passing their test this year, now getting to that age where the decent ones are being looked after. I'll keep mine going for as long as I'm physically able to, with as much preventative maintenance as possible. Previous years of anti-corrosion work will pay dividends, as it's the tin worm that gets them in the end - isn't that right Terry? :'(

Always great a straight pass, another year of luxury motoring at reasonable cost 👍
-
I tend to forget about the miserable mpg as its tax deductible anyway and your all right about the depreciation against cost which is a sum I used to worry about ,but not anymore....grin per mile is worth it imho :y
-
Well done Andrew ;) good news that , theres been a few up for test recently on here , mostly with an excellent result.

Mines due in the next couple of weeks. I have a week off work now so weather permitting Im planning on doing a few jobs to get it ready.
Collected a nice new pair of Brembo front discs for it today. :)

I hope they are 'proper' Brembo and not the shite that ECP et'al flog as Brembo :)

Yes ECP shite. Good enough for an Omega I should think. Im not planning on entering it in BTCC next season.

Go on Carpartsforless , same stuff but cheaper, even the euro part numbers cross over :y

Gave up on them quite a while back. They send the wrong stuff and then its impossible to communicate with them to sort things out.
If you use the discount code on ECP site you get the same prices as CP4L, but can click & collect, and return things if theres a problem.

Only issue with that is when (not if) they cock up, it is absolutely 100% impossible to get the issue resolved. Took me weeks to resolve an issue where they sent me a single spring instead of a pair.
If you want cheap crap ECP parts, its worth spending a fraction more and buying from ECP, as when things go wrong, you can phone them, unlike CP4L

Opps, should have read whole thread before replying ;D
