Headlamp range indicator
« on: 15 November 2007, 22:28:06 »

The Elite 3.2 has headlamp range motors.

A warning light indicating a head lamp range problem comes on now and then.

I had one of the motors changed under warranty about 3 years ago when the warning light came on at that time. There has been no recurrence until last few weeks.

It has been to the dealer twice - dealer confirms motors working ok and has just reset codes. This fault is just not clearing amd wonder whether anyone has met this before.

Thanks

Check the level sensors - the arms pop off.

Next most common is knackered servos, but get codes read before you go down that line.

Thanks but just one point on codes - you know that the dealer usually takes the easy option so I don't want them to do an unnecessary replacement - what code should I be looking for which confirms a servo problem. If they have supposedly tested the motors can it still be a servo problem?

Check the sensors first, as the arms wear, and keep popping off.

IIRC, you are down Reading way somewhere?

Anyone nearby got a cheapo Tech2 they are willing to read codes?

As mysteriously as it started - the head lamp range indicator warning has now stopped - no sign of it for several days. Maybe I was nice to the car - treated it gently or something - took it to nice places - dunno. The joys of the Omega!

It goes in for a big service in 2 weeks  - 6 year /72000 miles - you know the one where they change the spark plugs - dealers down here had a scheme fixed price £149.50 "all in" offer til 31st December which they say they will honour. Something has to go wrong soon!! Don't know whether to mentionhead lamp range thing again or not - if I do they may get there additional funds!!!
