As the muppets at British Rail obviously didn't, running their normal Saturday service with normal 4 carriage trains, rather than working day 8 or 12 carriage ones.
Going up to London where 82,000 were descending on Twickenham, so the train from Farnborough was standing only and we were packed in like Sardines.
Thank you to the young girl who gave up her seat, without hesitation, for the 80 year old I was travelling with.
On the way home where I got to Waterloo at 8:30. Some muppet that needs shooting in front of his family, had thrown a child's chair in front of a train, which shorted between the live line and normal rail, welding itself to the track and damaged the signalling.
Normal informative British Rail were giving their normal helpful advice on when trains would start running again, "don't ask us as we have no idea!". I took a risk catching one of the few that were boarding to Guildford which eventually left at just gone 10pm. Again standing room only as it was full of Rugby fans, so we were all packed in like sardines. With lots of delays, finally got to Guildford at 11pm, so I was able to catch the last train that stops at Sandhurst and get home just before midnight.
Don't you just love public transport.
