I have finally got the omega back on the road and whilst I had the HG failure repair I had 4 new tyres fitted.
Yesterday I took my car to STS and had a full geometry done as the steering wheel alignment was all wrong.
Was driving back from my Girlfriends tonight and the steering wheel began to shake at around 50mph+ not violently but noticable.
Any Ideas on what could be causing it.

Wheel balance is out on the front probably.

Daft Idea but could tyre pressures cause these sorts of problems?
If it more like ly the wheel balancing the it will have to go back to the garage who did the work.

Take it back and tell them about the vibration and they should rebalance your wheels for free.
I had some fronts done recently and went back 2 weeks later and found out 1 was 20grams out.
Afterwards the vibes were gone.

I had two tyres put on the front of a Carlton by Kwik fit once..I had to take it to four different Kwik Fit centres before they manged to get it right and stop the vibration..all down to bad balancing by them...never been to them again for anything..

First step for me with issues like this is to swap front and back wheels. If its an issue with the front wheels/balance/misshapen tyres you will notice it through the steering (or not when they are on the back).
But as it has new rubber I would just take it straight back.

There might be a problem with the drive shaft. There is a centring tube, which is causing many problems (damage seal).
It is causing all car shake, but you can only feel steering wheel and throttle pedal shaking.
i have to check it in mine as well.

I called the garage who did all the work and they had a mobile tyre fitter come to me all four wheels were rebalanced and now the car drives nice no noticable shakes from the steering wheel so fingers crossed its gone for good.
My only concern is I took the car to a garage just up the road good old STS tyre pro's and had a full geometry and for what ever reason when I hold the steering straight it drifts towards the kerb now I thought this should correct this.

They might not have weighted the car - its a common screwup...
That and not compensating for vehicle drop on the camber settings,

Shouldn't people who fit tyres every day for a living know this??

I sat and watched Kwik Fit balancing tyres in the waiting area once. Not one fitter ever checked the balance after fitting the weights. Lob it on the machine, fit the weights indicated and lob it back on the car. Another 30 seconds and they could have verified that is was now in balance. >:(

seriously, another problem with new tires is they can turn around the alloys easily and change the balance ..
also wishbones condition can effect the road stability..

Check the tyres for ovality and whether the tread is flat. More than once I have had the same problem for it to be diagnosed as crap tyres.
