Cheers Hillper  :)

Granted I had to retro fit the memory elecy seat in but the rest connected using the original looms, heated seat connectors were the same shall have to get a piccy later to confirm. :)

The original connectors have the red and brown wires.

Seats were from an N reg and the connector on the seats were the same for my P reg.

Shall check fuse 14 when I get home, just hope its something simple.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Leather Seat Heated Seats Issue
« on: 25 August 2006, 13:03:21 »
Basically I still have my doubts as to whether my heated front seats work they are connected up and the light on both buttons come on, seats get warm but not sure if they are on might just be body heat. The only heat felt seems to be when sitting on them. >:(

The replacement seats were tested in its original surroundings before removal and they were working.

The rear seats have there individual relays in place would it be worth moving them around.

The old front seats I knew for a fact worked can anyone tell me where the relays are for the front.

I shall be double checking the joins either tonite or tomorrow.

Possible fuse issue maybe.

Any suggestions as to what could be my problem.

Cheers

Roy

If yours is rubbish, its usually the lead right near the plug at headunit, or connections to aerial amp on parcel shelf.

Have recently checked the aerial connection into the radio shall double check the aerial amplifier.

Cheers for the suggestion.

DAB is basically mp3 quality but should be immune to fading as being digital it is all or nothing.

Compare it with Freeview where you still get a good picture while analogue goes fuzzy - then digital goes completely and you have a barely watchable analogue signal.

DAB is also on a different part of the spectrum to FM - all I can say is try it and see

Cheers Martin for the advice shall give it a try you never know.

I am no expert but I would think that if reception is crap at the moment then it will still be crap with a new DAB unit.
First place I would check is in behind the head unit, to make sure all the connections are sound.

Double checked all the connections a few times now, its clear but you get interference from planes going over which seems strange. The majority of the time I listen to CDs but it would be nice to have clearer radio.

I thought DAB was for digital broadcasts and what with the aerial now working but not at its best I thought this may improve the reception.

Cheers shall double check it again and if still the same live with it for now.

Possibly just me being picky. ;D

Now I have only just got radio reception back and its not the best would a DAB radio help to improve radio reception only the aerial is built into the rear window.

Have tried the cleaning the inside/outside of the window trick but its still not the best.

My project omega which will be my dads has a DAB radio with the aerial built into the rear window and the reception is well clear.

I am not sure if this will work the same in my car.

What would be the best solution any advice would be most appreciated.

If this is a good idea could anyone recommend any decent DAB radios

Perhaps the timing is slightly out might be possible even with a chain

Omega General Help / Re: OIL LEEK .... 2.0 16v
« on: 09 September 2009, 09:14:18 »
Sounds like it could be you rocker cover gasket leaking had this on my old car previously, found oil dripping onto exhuast downpipe aswell when driven caused a right stink.

Check the rear of the cover when the engine is cold where at the rubber seal towards the top should be half circles if oil has been leaking I always found it leaked from there.

The rocker cover gasket replacement is pretty simple to do.

Just make sure you use the black stuff to reseal the cover the green stuff vx will try to sell you goes hard and breaks up over time.

Maybe worth checking the how 2 section as I'm sure there is a guide in there to complete this job.

Hope this makes sense

Good Luck

Roy :)

Hi

Assuming yours is an earlier omega should be the same

I fitted leather to my old mig

I was lucky enough when fitting the drivers seat to have a piece of loom with the connector that connects in under the seat if you can its just a case of snip the original connector for the up/down and using a nylon connector(?) join the loom with connector to original wiring and hey presto sorted.

The rest of the seats just wire in as normal

If you support the gearbox these are easy to whip off and have a look at. I replaced mine but actually the original was OK. They're very soft even when new.

Hi JasonH

Thankyou for your response, do you have a price of how much replacements are from VX, I may just get one for piece of mind.  :y

Hi

Anyone got any ideas on this?

The piece I am questioning is the rear mount where the gearbox sits on a rubber thats bolted to the bottom of the car.

Cheers  :y

Are these prone to collapsing, was under my car today working on the manifold issue now semi resolved.

The rubber at the rear of the gearbox looks all squashed has any one got any pics of what it should look like?

Car is a 2.0 manual.

other hints for finished shocks:

abs will become active frequently..

some irregular noises from shocks ..

when turning curves the car will tilt more than normal on sides..

Well the car at the moment when driven you feel like your on a boat rocks side to side when doing 30-50 anything above that its not so noticable.

Thinking about in cold weather when going over speed humps just up the road you hear a creaking noise, I thought it was the wishbones but thinking about it, could well be the shocks :-/

Have to admit the back end was a little twitchy when turning in places.

The brakes though so far have been ok.
