Omega Gallery / some pictures of me new purchase
« on: 09 May 2008, 21:40:08 »
so I brought her home today. I was very pleased with the drive home no nasty rattles or bangs just the front pad low warning just as I was pulling on the drive. She's got a few niggles. The sunroof switch is tempremental. You have to select how much you want it open then wiggle the switch to make it move. There must be a wiring fault in the drivers door the speaker dosen't work and the remote central looking dosen't work on that door. Somebody has robbed the cd changer from the boot and theres a ccr800 stereo thrown in the hole. I've got a nice Kenwood single disc in there now but have lost the seperate display and steering wheel controls. So here's a few piccys and some of her stable mates

and now the one it's replacing

Wasn't sure where to put this as it's not really Omega specific.

If there's anybody out there who has a Tech 1. Can you please tell me if the lead to the car has a 12 pin plug on it which you then plug a converter plug into to get it to 16 pin or maybe 10 pin ALDI? Mine has had the ten pin plug soldered on the end which is great for use on my Carlies etc but I need to try a 12-16 pin converter I have for GM cars which have what looks like a OBD2 socket fitted (same shape) but is really ALDI

Ok. I have a purchased a 95 Omega. It has a OBD 2 port. If you look at the majority of software programs you can buy they will not work with the 2.5 and 3.0lt variants. As I understand it you need a Tech1 machine. I have one of these I use it on my Carlton 3lt and my Lotus carlton. These work by having different cartridges for different applications. I have a dedicated Omega cartridge coming to me as we speak but what use is this software without the correct plug. Vauxhall must of used the Tech1 with the early omegas or they wouldn't of bothered programming the cartridge. So am I missing a lead/converter? Is there a pc based software out there which can read the 2.5/3's Can I splice into the wires on the back of the OBD 2 port and wire in a tech1 port also?

General Discussion Area / Ripped off what would you do?

Hi all. I have a problem. I purchased some bits from a fellow member on here and he's done a runner with the money. Now were not talking hundreds here but I find the principal of matter more upsetting. I'm a member of 2 other car forums. One is restricted access while the other is a open forum. I've purchased parts on both of these from members with good feed back with no issues. It saddens me to think somebody doesn't buy in to the spirit of the site. So what would you do? Do I name and shame them? after all I've got nothing to loose the moneys gone anyway and it might just stop somebody else getting coined. Do I keep pestering them with Pm's not really my style I like to think If somebody sent me one pm I'd ac immediately I read it. Just accept it's buyer beware and not trust anybody. Which I think is sad. I have contacted the admin on here but I doubt there is much they can do. This kind of thing puts a real downer on the forum community as a whole and makes it a unpleasant experience I mean are you going to want to log on to a site where you feel undesirable people frequent?

If I've gone against forum rules with this I do apologise I should of checked first.

Well I've been looking on and off for a while then out of the blue came a 99T 2.5 CDX saloon. Just 20 miles from me. It was a trade in at a garage so I didn't think it would be up to much but I went for a look. T&T till november 95k miles all the usual goodies and also leather (beleave it was a option) full service history and not just the stamped book but also all the invoices at 89k it had to have a new water pump and the cambelt was replaced which was nice. Couple of tiny blemishs but apart from that really tidy. Have to do a leaky cam cover and that means cleaning the breathers out she was all mine for the grand sum of 450 english punds!!!!! I was looking to spend 600 to 700. Will need new rear tyres soon. So I collect it tomorrow

Sorry if this is the wrong section I will do a proper picture show in the gallery once she's home  :y
