General Discussion Area / Luton Airport
« on: 11 October 2023, 09:00:45 »
Just hope no one was hurt as reports have said flames were seen shooting accross the car park and multiple explosions were heard.

"The blaze was triggered by a vehicle fire that spread in Terminal Car Park 2, the airport said" from Google

Watching the news and flicking round the net trying to find out what type of car was the start of the fire.

EV/PHEV they seem to be the cause of most car fires in the last few years :-\

Or maybe just an electrical issue.

Should have been done years ago and the roadsides would be a lot better for it. :y

General Discussion Area / I Should Be Quicker
« on: 10 September 2023, 11:27:12 »
Over the months I have considered buying one of these Ninja Dual Basket Air Fryers.

Saw the price had dropped so added it to the Argos basket @ £189. come the day I decided to buy they were sold out every where. :-\

Price went up to £199 and every time I tried to buy they were sold out every where.

I should have have bought the 1st time round, When I bought my 1st air fryer I got it on offer at £89 (£93 delivered (within a year they were selling for £359 - maybe a mistake by the seller when I bought my 1st one)

Now Ninja have brought out a newer model with a retail of £270 and when on offer was £219 at Amazon, poped it in the basket whilst looking for other items, next day it was £259.50, day after it had risen to £270 :-\

Then the p**s take, I enquired if anyone hd dealt with .box.co.uk on another thread, with good feedback I put an item (Not cheap) in the basket gone to confirm the order today and the price has risen £232.29  Still cheaper than others.  Normally the prices drop slowly, but with technology I reckon these retailers have monitoring software to manipulate the prices.

General Discussion Area / 3D Printing
« on: 06 September 2023, 19:20:23 »
I know there are other threads (3D Printing 2019) plus other random mentions.

For years I had fancied a CNC engraver but in all fairness never delved in to whats involved.

Tech has moved on with all aspects of engraving/cutting with router/laser/water jet etc & 3D Printing/scanning etc.

Not knowing sod all about it I wanted to have have a play with some software and see how creative I can get.

Any suggestions on software, plus with experiance of others for recomendations for a 3D printer. (pros/cons) :y

General Discussion Area / Something Positive for a change - Amazon

After my gripe about them yesterday and me placeing an order without confirmation. ::)

The item has turned up in perfect condion, very polite delivery lad.  Really cant knock thier service at all (At the moment)   :y

They also sell the other item I wanted from Argos but they dont offer Paypal. :-\

Whilst posting here I found another company that offers the Paypal pay in 3 (Not a chep item so helps spead the cost) the company does 2 man delivery/unpack /setup/remove rubbish if required

Have seen thier links over the last year or so but not sure whether to trust them or not.  Been on the review sites like Trustpilot but I never know if the reviews are "manipulated"

https://www.box.co.uk  has anyone used them?

General Discussion Area / I Give In
« on: 05 September 2023, 14:56:55 »
Last week PC issues.
Ongoing niggles ever since (NVidea drivers etc)
New Intel card bought, over the bank holiday
Then realised I had twin network and built in Display port on my motherboard. :-\

Plug and play issues last time round I had to manually install drivers.  Using the Killer network this time itinstalled and updated drivers automatically. ::)

Tried the onboard graphics for a few days as never used them before, ok for basic stuff so went to install the GPU found it has 2 x 8 pin connectors.

Can adapt the power etc but opted to upgrade to a bigger PSU.  Amazon came out £20 cheaper and next day delivery.

As per usual up came the Prime trial offer.  Went back a page to find another option. decided to recheck the spec on the PSU again.  Little banner on the screen said
You last purchased this item on the 5th Sep

I didnt go ahead on prime
I did not confirm any thing and had i have not seen the message I would have ended up with 2 of them.

Either gremlins are attacking me.
I am losing my marbles
or I need a holiday.

I give in :-\

General Discussion Area / Discount Codes
« on: 13 August 2023, 19:19:22 »
Have had a 28" 4K monitor for a few years now, very impresed with it. :y

So I now fancy a bigger monitor. ::)

Looked to go 32" but dont see too much gain for myself, with my health and eyesight I run the 28" @ 1440 as the text is a struggle @ 2160

Acer do a 35" screen but I was never quick enough to get one at the right price or in stock, they were obviouly very popular. :-\

So had a look round and decided on Asus again,  Options are 34" and 38" obviously a big hike in price for the bigger screen but on the checkout they have a code link for discounts and if I can find one then the bigger screen might be considered.. (I do a lot of spreadsheet work and suffer with the 1440 res and require the 2160 for the sake of my eyes)

Never used a discount code before so the question is are there any recomended sites to speed me through hours of searching the net. :y

General Car Chat / The Future - Hydrogen

Hydrogen may be the up and coming fuel but what will the cars actually cost.

EV's & PHEV's were going to make a differnce, sadly the avarge person cant affoerd to buy them new.

But if I won the lottery I might consider having one of these in my garage.  ::)
