2.6 Ecus!
« on: 28 June 2012, 09:25:48 »

Hi all.

Can anyone tell me if the Vectra 2.6 ecu is the same as the omega one?

I've looked around the net and most places list them as the same. I'm aware that there are differences between auto and manual etc. But what intrigues me is that Omega has dual ram! (Unless this is controlled by throttle body and only monitored by Ecu?)

Can anyone confirm or deny if they are the same? I'm aware I need transponder ring and chips etc.. too.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Is it an Omega ECU that you want mate?

I'm pretty sure I've got one from a 2.6 Auto somewhere with the transponder ring and chips.

Ta for the quick reply!

Desperate for a 2.6 manual ecu, ring and chips. Unless auto one works just as well?

I honestly couldn't tell you if the Auto and Manual ones are the same I'm afraid mate, but I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm shortly.  :y

Thanks for the info. Do you mean the auto / manual is set by config variant or the dual ram control stuff?

A mate has just moved back from OZ. Has his own tech 2 from there, but is running GM card.

So I guess I'm looking for manual for plug and play-ability as I need the car sorted within a week ideally as it may be my yoke for Billing as the MK2 isn't (likely) to be ready.

No, manual/auto is set via config variant programming using Tech 2, easy and quick to do!

Aah that's ace. Will it run in the meantime without this programming? (Twiglet - we might be on! PM me what your looking for it)

Is 3.2 different to 2.6 too? I know the 2.5 cavalier Ecu runs my 257bhp 3.0XE OK so am curious(!)

I have a manual 2.6 ECU, plus the other bits that you need coming available shortly if either you decide to wait or want to hold out for the "proper" stuff.

Just let me know....

thinking about it, I'm not using the car at the moment, so I could arrange a loan immediately.

I have two manual facelift cars - a 2.6 and a 3.2. The 3.2's getting a different engine, so the plan is to move the 3.2 engine into the 2.6 car, together with its electronics. Ergo, the 2.6 becomes redundant. Job starts after I've finished building the workshop, but as I'm not currently using either car, the I could remove the bits you need and send them to you. Provisional sale provided the transplant works

is that ok for you ?
