Swedish cops try to catch a guy in a Lotus Omega for speeding. The Omega just vanish and the cops are running over 200 kph
It's an old movie, from about 20 years ago.

I quite fancy a Lotus Carlton as we call them here. :y
-
Call that a Police car? looks like it maxed out at about 200 kph (120 mph). ;D

Not bad considering the driver had a leggy Swedish blonde giving him a blow job as he was driving. :)
Scandinavians are very liberal when it comes to sex.
-
I think he nipped down a side road as soon as he was out of sight of the cops. ;)
Whether it was for the blow job or to escape, I'll leave that for you lot to decide! ;D

Also watched the two follow up videos, the comparison between the LC and VXR8 was interesting.LC was less powerful, lighter but slightly slower.Given the choice though I think I'd still take the LC.

It wouldn't be a bad choice but sadly it's about £5,200 over my price range

That car is an ABS members car
Worth the extra petrol for the V8 soundtrack :y

Presumably as it's the Swedish cops then the cop car will have been one of the Volvo models.Always difficult in car chase scenario to tell how hard the police are trying as they have to factor in public safety etc whereas those being chased don't.
-
The police are driving a SAAB 9.3 2 litre turbo.
The speed of the police car is shown in the lower right corner of the video. When the chase starts the cops accelerate from 125 and when they have reached 180 the Omega is gone. They reach a bit over 200 on a long straight and there you can see the Omega at the end of the straight.
This guy was harassed by the police for a long time and since they didn't catch him they couldn't proof who was driving.

Yes indeed,I much like that :y

In fairness to the Swedish police there wasn't much back then[and possibly still not]that would live with a LC/LO driven by someone determined not to be caught.

They must have got his reg plate and gone after the registered keeper/owner, regardless of whoever was driving at the time. ???
I expect Sweden is quite civilised like that. ;) ;D

Anyone with a good memory? Back in the late 80's ( I think) there was a series of ram raids on shops in the Midlands. Usually a stolen transit or similar and then the raiders made good their escape in "an expertly driven" Lotus Carlton . Even the police pursuit helicopter couldn't keep up with it. Anyway this went on for some months before the police found the sad looking LC in a local canal. The owner was quickly traced and I remember seeing the car and owner on a photograph outside his house. I often wondered if it was a race or rally car driver funding their hobby. I also now wonder if that car has been restored and the current owner knows none of its previous escapades.

yes Varche,
that story was very interesting at the time, but i didnt know about the canal bit! thanks :y
