We are mostly of a certain age, so I thought I would start a thread on your favourite music tracks and why.

One of mine is “ when the levee breaks” Led Zeppelin. The drums and harmonica are just sublime. A late uncle in law played harmonica and I sort of learnt……Interestingly I don’t think it was a track that Zeppelin played live . The drums were in a pit and the harmonica layered on afterwards. Still a great track.

Unpopular opinion 
I always thought that Sabbath were better with Dio on vocals and that Ozzy was better solo.

Oh I prefer Oz singing especially on songs like spiral city architect, but it’s just the track as a whole,  guitar in particular.

I was never into such bands,but favourite music depends on mood.I suppose if I had to pick just one piece of music then it'd be Eine Kleine Nacht Musik.

Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings as a standalone piece, regardless of the arrangement, although Tiësto does a fantastic live arrangement of it...

Followed that link, watched it, and just spent nearly an hour watching Bernard Manning, Dave Allen and Jethro. One thing leads to another

  I listen, when I have time, to a youtuber called Kfir Ochion
He plays guitar covers of popular rock and metal tracks
He has written his own 10 minute solo of "Comfortably Numb"
My supervisor was raised on Floyd so he said he would be the judge of how good it was
When it finished, he told me he had goose bumps nearly all the way through it
He said His father, who was the Floyd nut, would have been mightily impressed
Worth having a listen to him
As for me, one of the best in my opinion is Mettalicas cover of "Turn the page"
The origional is good, but this is head and shoulders above it

Not much to look up on Gary Moore with Skid row. Whats available isnt great material ime. They were a great live band in the clubs in Belfast, according to an old mate of mine who saw them regularly.
He used to play regularly at the Maritime club in Belfast, where he and Rory Gallagher would often jam together on stage together and play each others guitars.
I would have loved to have seen that.

Well, I was poor growing up ,couldn't afford the drugs for the hardcore raves   
never injected marijuana or smoked ecstasy

My first gig was Ulster hall Belfast January 1974, where the live version of A million miles away was recorded for the Album and film Irish tour 74.
Belfast Loved Rory, because in those days hardly anyone would come near the place, but he came and played several nights every January.
Saw him seven times, and to this day, he was by far the best live performer I have ever seen. He blew the roof off the place every night.
Met him very briefly to get his autograph, and off stage he was the quietest most humble person you could ever meet.

My first awareness of Rory Gallagher was at the farewell Cream performance at the Albert Hall (The first one) when support bands were Yes & Taste. Sugar Mama and Catfish Blues and others changed my musical view. That first Taste album is still a "Go-To".

I have only ever been to one live gig, it was my mates band, I helped them move thier gear and set up for thier practice sessions etc.

They were the support band playing in a local village building to an unknown band called Deff Leopard. I think the Deff bit referred to the volume, the building shook so much I thought the roof was going to fall in.

I seem to recall "Love over gold" was the first vinyl album I purchased.

Getting back to Gary Moore.
He came  from a couple of miles from me in East Belfast. He was left handed but played guitar right handed. Im the same.
Unfortunately for me, thats where the similarities end. 
A mate of mine used to live next door to his parents. His Dad was a Taxi driver and a drinker, so my mate used to pop round and to visit Mrs Moore in the evenings and "keep her company". 
I saw him in a very small venue (about 200 people) in Shepherds Bush about 15 years ago. The stage was only about 3 feet high and I stood right at the front. In fact he stood on my fingers at one point.
I was transfixed watching him play, and could only conclude his secret was simple. An overdose of God given talent.
 How he played guitar didnt seem humanly possible to me.
He was, technically at least, the greatest Ive ever seen.

This is a good demonstration. Worth sticking with it for the whole ten minutes.

In addition to his undoubted guitar skills, he also had one of the best guitar solo faces in the business. Straight out of an 80's p***n movie money shot.
I'm really not knocking him here. That's a compliment (I think  )
