Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Fault Code 0420
« on: 04 June 2010, 19:30:07 »
Hi All,

I have a 2.2 petrol Omega and every now and then  my engine light comes on and when I read the fault code it gives me "0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)".  I have searched the forum but could not find it posted on here.  Can some one please give me an indication as to what causes this fault.  Car has just had its MOT and passed so no emission problems. Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Minor alarm problem
« on: 11 April 2010, 18:54:17 »
My alarm system works ok when using the remote, I can also lock the car and arm the system using the key in door lock.  However, if I unlock the car using the door lock, the alarm sounds when I open the door.  No fault codes in the system.
Would be grateful if any one has a fix.

Omega General Help / Water leak
« on: 09 July 2011, 08:17:34 »
I have a water leak where the hose from the HBV connects to the heater matrix.  There are no splits in the hose, it is as if it is not connected tight enough.  I have checked that it is clipped on to the heater matrix ok but it still leaks.  Does any one know if there are any "O" rings inside the hose connector, if so are they a dealer part or from a plumbers.  Thanks

Omega General Help / Loose door trim
« on: 24 June 2011, 19:43:37 »
I have a 2001 omega of which the top of the door trim near the lock pin is loose.  On inspection the "L" shaped piece of plastic which clips to the top of the door is becoming detached.  I have tried superglue and hot glue gun but they did not work.  As any one who has had this problem managed to stick it back again, if so what glue did you use.

Thanks

Omega General Help / 2.2 throttle body
« on: 14 April 2011, 21:15:52 »
Hi all,

In an attempt to rid my car of the P1555 code I posted earlier, I plan to replace the throttle body.  I would like some advice regarding fitting the new part, not the physical fitment but the electronic side.  I have read that when replacement is fitted, to switch the ignition on for 10 seconds before starting the car so that the engine management can learn the new values of the switch.  Does any one know if the values of the old switch get automatically over-written or do they need to be deleted using software?  If any one has done this replacement I would appreciate your comments.

Thanks

Omega General Help / P1555 error code
« on: 02 April 2011, 19:25:58 »
Hi,

I have been trying to resolve a problem on my 2.2 Omega.  I keep getting p1555 error code regarding the MAF and throttle position sensor.  So far I have taken the throttle housing off and cleaned and replaced with a new gasket. I have also changed the MAF with a genuine VDO/Siemens one, replaced the air filter and the four jubilee clips and checked for leaks on the air intake system but the problem still comes back.
Would be gratefull if there were any suggestions, Thanks

It is coming from the near side of the engine towards the front and i get puffs of smoke where it meets the front of the exhaust manifold.  Both the rocker cover and camshaft gaskets are ok.  Is there any thing in that visinity that could leak oil please?

Omega General Help / Alarm Problems
« on: 08 June 2010, 21:21:41 »
Hi all, I thought I would share this with you.

I recently had a fault with my alarm becoming activated for no apparent reason.  I did a scan and no fault was found.  This happend over a period of a couple of days.  Yesterday my daughter said she had left her mobile in my centre consol on Saturday, can I get it for her.  Guess what, no more alarm problems.  Put the phone back in the centre console. alarm activates again.  I never would have guessed that a mobile phone could set it off, even though the phone was not ringing or receiving texts.
