Suspension & wheels
« on: 12 May 2012, 20:21:11 »

i just got my 1st 03 Omega 3.2 V6, and i did major service for it
Service Log Link

i am thinking of the following: Getting sport shock absorber (lowering kit) and Sports Wheels
i was thinking of (rays engineering)
this video @ minute 5.37 same these rims and exact same color
YouTube Link (@ 5.37)
or
Volk GTS

or
G25

but as i know i have take in consideration
- Wheel diameter
- Wheel width
- PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) (Mine is 5x110mm) i think
- Offset (This is the most important and also most difficult thing to work out).
any advices ? and  answers?

Opel Omega Wheels & Rims

Not quite sure why you're asking as the site you list provides most of the info you seem to be asking for.......

PCD - yep, you're right it's 5 x 110 right across the range of all Omegas (Vauxhall and Opel AFAIK). You want to use BMW or Insignia wheels then you'll need to make changes behind the wheel. (5 x 120 I believe.....)
Diameter - well, that's your choice 15" - 22" is the range of size I've seen. Depends what you're after and how good the roads are!
Offset - well your webpage is accurate - 33 - although I believe the range for Omegas is 33-39 so you have options there too.
Width? 7.5, 8, 9 & 10 (7's and 8's on the front 9's and 10's on the back - although personally I wouldn't bother)

If you can get RAYS to make 'em how you want - tell your requirements - looks like they'll oblige!

You'll need to make your wheel size in proportion to your drop so that you don't rub (especially on the fronts), but again, depends what you're after.

Those Black RAYS do look very nice!

Have fun deciding and good luck - post some pics when you've got them on your Mig!

hi, thanks MV6Matt for your reply :)
  *PCD = 5x110 right
*Diameter: i was thinking of R18
*Offset: i have no idea what it means but the site as u said says 33!
*Width: i really don't know what is best but i want front and back same... maybe 8
Regarding the Drop ... i really have nothing in mind, but what matter to me more is having the sporty stiffer feeling when riding the car, i am coming from a 1994 E36 BMW 325i convertible (with really stiff sporty suspension) as well as 2004 E46 BMW M3 (sold)... i dont want same exactly... but i feel that my omega is too loose :) i know that this is a sedan and that is a truck car (M3) but anyway :)
any advice regarding the Sport Shock Absorber ...

this what some1 replied to me
Quote
"Dropping your car means your wheels will cave inwards into the wheel wells. This means your stock suspension geometry is altered and therefore you can't really use the stock wheel dimensions as a guide for your new wheels because now your wheel width and offset are completely different."

Quote
"To save yourself a lot of headache and money trying to figure out which setup fits your car, my suggestion to you is to look for other Omega owners in forums who have installed aftermarket suspension and wheels. Look for someone who has the fitment you want. By that I mean the amount of drop, wheel diameter, width, offset etc regardless of wheel brand or type and ask them what setup they run. Once you know what width and offset you need, it will make your life a lot easier."

and i am more concerned about the suspension and the change of geometry and all the values

i think i finally found what i want :D

1) Wheels:
i will use a PCD adapter .. Opel (5x110) to BMW (5x120) or Japanese (5x114.3) 15-25mm thickness and use any type of Wheels i want :)

2) Suspension:
i will probably use Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit (30mm lowering Kit) 728 Euros
other choice is KW V2 (which is more expensive)

thanks all :D
